@0:20 'Sat Shiri Akal' is ok too. @2:04 'aa' is used commonly in spoken Panjabi rather than 'hai'. 'Aa' translates to is. @3:31 'maaf kariyo' translates to forgive me. The term 'sharminda' translates to shameful. @5:50 'meharbani' and 'shukariya' are also used for thank you. @6:27 'rab rakha' is also used for good bye.

He should have his own channel! I’ve learned a lot also and I love Punjabi music. I started listening g after the movie Bend it like Beckham. Beautiful music on that sound track and I love Bali Sagoo, the song noori, and others. Early 2000s there was more Punjabi being played in America and rap was mixed with Punjabi rappers. It was great. Since that movie I started listening to find other songs I might like and I had a landlord from India and they heard me playing and singing along with the music and thought I was fluent in Punjabi but I told them no I wish! Then I’d know what they were singing about! I can learn any song in any language long as I love or like a song enough to play it frequently then I can sing it just as well as any English song with or without the actual song playing. The lyrics no matter what language it is stays with me. Music is a great way to learn new languages I think long as they are translated.

@@surjitsingh8575 I am a Canadian who is open to learning as much Punjab as will be taught to me through co-workers and the general public. I am almost always greeted with a smile when I greet someone with (phonetic) ‘Qi Hahleh’ and then am able to thank them for their time with (phonetic) ‘da’ahn waal’ It gets the conversation moving… to tell a person that the language is not secluded to the families; their language is becoming an important point of the western culture. Let’s hope that by learning even the most basic conversation starters crossing the languages can open up the heads of how to live as a good country and not have so many racial biases

Meh sharminda Haan is similar to somthin like" embarrassment" or " shameful " Maaf kreyo is best way to say sorry . Alvida has no attachment in Panjabi speakers at all , it's rarely uses by Hindi speakers or Urdu speakers who lives near around Panjab , The exact way to say good bye is "changa fair " or sat Sri akaal or even rabb rakha. And how are you with formal individual is like " ki haaley " when you attach g or ji with it then it shows very much respect hence used for elders.

He used some hindi/urdu words. Native punjabis would never use the words alvida or naam.

Naam can be used in Punjabi but remember these words are not from Urdu / Hindi since they are borrowed from Arabic and Persian. Urdu / Hindi did not even exist when these words were originally borrowed into Punjabi.

@@sukhraj_singh1999 Thanks’ can be translated into Punjabi in various ways. Punjabi has words inherited from various languages. Dhannvaad is the Sanskritized Punjabi translation of the word and is close to Sanskrit word Dhanyavaad. This is a formal gesture of thanking. Saying Shukriya is another way of paying our gratitude. The word has roots in the Persian Shukar and is a refined way of thanking. Poets from stage will say Shukriya to thank the audience. Another way of thanking is by saying Meharbani. The word has again Persian-Urdu origins and is spoken by commoners more than the above two variants.

@@affanmahmoodkhan Dhannvaad is the original way of saying Thank you in Punjabi. Punjabi is a descendent of Sanskrit. Mehrbani and Shukria are loanwords so their not original. So saying Dhanyavaad isn’t wrong, it’s just that most of us don’t use that word anymore.
