These were used on boats because alcohol doesn't explode like propane and it can be put out with water if it starts to burn unlike kerosene or gasoline. Nice stove.

I just bought one of these at an antique store. Glad your video was here. The instruction placard is missing on mine as well,

One of the plus points about these things is that you can get denatured alcohol/methylated spirits in almost any port around the world, if they have a half way decent hardware store or home improvement store then you can get the fuel, the same could not be said for bottled gas back in the day, also gas can leak and settle in the bottom of the boat and then explode when it comes in contact with a spark. You also mentioned how mechanically simple they are, this is a huge boon while out at sea where mechanically complicated things tend to break very easily, also there is no chance of being overcome and killed by CO2 with an alcohol stove which means you can use them indoors safely.

I bought mine 'new' in 1993 from a sale of swedish army mash items it was new in an unopened box i've used it about 4 x it is extremely effective you might try using fine gauge wire to clean the burners,as a pricker came with mine to clean the burners with, the instructions are explicit in not to use petrol/gasoline, mine is dated 1948....

I tried to remove the filter screens. They look like 20 ga shotgun cleaners. Mine came out mostly as clumps of rust.

In case you don't know it, you can make your own biofuel using old fruits, fermantation and destilling. It's not that hard.
