Actually we don't know that. She could have just got out. He just assumed. She looked well taken care of. They never say if they look for a chip or put an ad in the lost and found. He said she looked "lost". I hope someone's pet didn't accidentally get out and they are heartbroken because they can't find her. 😢

@@pattyw7952 They found her wandering around in what looks like a rural or remote place, and they took her to a vet. Vets ALWAYS scan for chips, especially in animals who appear to be abandoned. I know this because I live in a remote, rural community of about 300 people in a 10 square mile area where most of us have ranch properties. Mine is 20 acres, and my nearest neighbor is a mile away. Dogs and cats get dumped here frequently. Sadly, most are killed by predators. Yes, even big dogs, because our predators are pumas, lynx, bobcat, wolves, coyote, foxes, etc. My neighbor who lives closer to the paved road has rescued many dumped dogs, and has a vet he brings them to. Vet always scans for chips and sometimes finds one. It's not enough to get the previous owner to do the right thing though. My ranch is off-grid, 3 miles from a paved road. Two of my cats came here as 4-6 month old kittens who came to our porch from who-knows-where. The first one, a little black kitty had a bloody stump where her tail used to be. She must have narrowly escaped a predator. The 2nd cat was a gorgeous little guy, a tuxedo who seemed feral at first, but in 2 weeks was very friendly and cuddly. He is my heart! I suspect he was dumped near my house, probably with other siblings. I'm so grateful he found us. Sadly, there are cruel people out there who should never be near animals.

I 2 found a ‘dumped’ pit on the road & picked her up-vet said she was about 2yrs old & used for breeding but couldn’t anymore (2young& it ruined her) but she’s been the best dog ever &would lay her life down to protect me! I would love to dump these ppl in the middle of the desert without provisions that these horrific ppl who are so mean to animals by dumping them off as these poor dogs were! Shameful behavior forced on these wonderful dogs!

They bring him all kinds of treats, and he trades them for licks. It is beautiful to watch him change from House-Hippo to Gentle-Giant, when an aged hand appears through the fence bearing a treat.

I know what you mean about being the one rescued by an animal! Maggie is such a cute name! What kind of dog (or cat) is she? I'm a big ol' doofus who sings to my animals, making up lyrics. I would be singing "Maggie May" to her with silly lyrics like, "🎶 Wake up Maggie, I think I've got a new toy for yoooou!"🎵 I know, don't quit my day job. 😜 For me, it was the day after Xmas 2020, when I was so depressed we didn't bother to have Xmas. Couldn't go anywhere because of lockdown, and I'd just lost my favorite neighbor to COVID. I heard a noise on the porch, looked out and saw a beautiful little tuxedo kitten looking back at me. He is the doppelganger of my favorite cat, "Spaz", I got in 1982, but who died at 18 in 2000, one week after my beloved mom died. It's like Spaz returned to me, 20 years later! They not only look alike, they both had funny, sweet extrovert personalities. On Facebook, I posted 2 pics, side by side, one of Spaz and one of Houdini, with the caption, "which cat is cuter?" I got responses like, "Dummy, that's the same cat!"😻

I love my Maggie May!!! I had a beautiful dog Riley. Big, goofy and lovable. It hit him hard and fast. Took him to er. He was put down shortly after. He didn’t have a chance. I am forever thankful that they let me come in and be with him. Three months later I found my new best friend. I don’t know what I would do without her.

I know that you know, she's grateful and will continue to pay you back with love for what you did for her. That's how we got our two most recent cats, 3 years apart. My adult son and I live off-grid on 20 acres where the nearest neighbor is more than a mile away. Bad people often dump dogs and cats out here thinking they can survive on their own. NO! We have large predators out here. The first cat, about 4 months old, was badly injured (her tail was a bloody stump, she escaped a predator we think), feral, and scared out of her mind. I couldn't catch her, so I told my son he had to try because he's kind of a cat-whisperer. Took him a day and a half, he even slept outside next to her hiding spot until she came out for food. For two years, he was the only one she trusted, but finally allowed me to pet her. Five years later, she's very sweet and friendly and has NEVER wanted to go back outside. She's jet black, so if we hadn't had a full moon that night I'd have never seen her. Because of that, my son named her "Luna" (full name "Luna Negra" after a band we both like) 2 1/2 years ago, a beautiful little tuxedo kitty appeared on our porch who we thought was feral, but after a couple of weeks inside the house became ridiculously cuddly and affectionate. He bonded to me, and I consider him to be the best gift the "universe" ever gave me. He came here the day after Xmas 2020, the saddest, loneliest Xmas of my life. He made my depression disappear like magic, so sense he's "dressed" in a tux like a magician, I named him Houdini.

He’s so protective of her! She’s an all black kitty with yellow/green eyes! We named her “Coraline” she actually watched the movie with us and loved to watch tv and documentaries and video games we play! I’m glad your kitty saved you from a lonely Christmas, I hope this Christmas is amazing for you and your loved ones!! Our kitty helped us too, our previous Roomate’s cat sent us both to the hospital from a vicious attack, we didn’t provoke him, but there was blood everywhere on the walls, the nurse said she never saw a cat attack so bad and we were scared he had rabies! we had to get a tetanus shots. The relationship with the Roomate didn’t last and my partner was so traumatized he hated cats after. He didn’t want to let the stray kitty crying at our door inside this winter, I know he did it for me. I really wanted to let her in super badly, since I didn’t think all cats are mean like the last one and wanted to give them another chance. Now he calls himself “daddy” and me “mommy” to this little kitty and is absolutely in love with her! 😂 she’s such a perfect addition to our small family. ❤️ I just lost my dog I’m almost 17 years and have been feeling really guilty I think having her around helps. She won’t let me ignore her and even follows me to the bathroom. 😂😂

We were adopted by a cat that was dumped in our neighborhood. We had him for 10 years and he was definitely a unique personality. I still miss him.😊

God I really hope that people who do this LITERALLY have no choice and it eats at them everyday. I want them to imagine the worse happening to these animals in their dreams and then use that trauma to never own another living creature again. But then again psychopaths lack empathy

And while I disapprove of rejoining dogs just because you’re too stupid to prepare for all the outcomes, they at least should rehome the dog. No different than if a family of athletes had an up athletic and artsy kid, everyone wouldn’t argue if it’s okay to abandon the kid over that difference.
