Also, transfiguration is not only reminiscent of the butterfly and the moth. It is also reminiscing of religious believes of turning into an indestructible form of energy when you die and you transcend to the next level after death, that’s what I think the writer was going for, but this aliens species transcends why they’re still alive, which makes it a very interesting story that they didn’t pick up the thread and carry on with going to planet and seeing what happened next

This is my number one favorite episode of the next generation of all 179 hours of film footage they did this is my favorite story. What’s funny is is the following two weeks would be the TV movie that is everybody else’s favorite story of all time of the next generation, best of both worlds part one and part two

2 weeks? more like 3 months. It was the longest 3 months of my life. I even did my own fan fiction to fill in part 2 while I was waiting. Interestingly enough it kind of turned out similar to picard season 2.

@@awilliams1701 you mean part two took three months later because that was the beginning of the fourth season but still when you put it in the top five of the top 10 list of the best Star Trek next generation episodes they take up two slots when they should only take up one slot

It was interesting when they released the blu-ray "movie" version. They ran into a few issues because it wasn't designed that way. They had to modifiy some lighting and change the music slightly. They even cut out the countdown to fire the deflector. All to help it blend together better. So I actually kind of prefer the 2 parter to the movie.

I do believe it's possible to get trapped in your own mind and that can lead to awkwardness and anxiety. Maybe that's what was healed.

I have the TNG DVD box set and I have watched it through more than once and the only part of this episode I can remember is O'Brien kayaking. This episode seems like a season 1 episode IMO.

Ryan, he edited encounter at Farpoint, which was of course the pilot of the next generation, but your information is incorrect. Actually he does direct the two you say for next generation but he even wrote an episode of DS nine and I think he directed the one he wrote if I remember correctly, but yeah, he edited quite a lot and that’s what he was known for, but his directing, this is a good directorial and like you said dual is a very good directorial but devils dual was one of those Star Trek phase 2 script that was reworked to be an next generation story. I forget which D9 he wrote and directed but he did write and direct a DS nine I remember.

"we could explore de-evolving" OMG the look on Ryan's face! He knows!!! I hope you're kidding cause that episode is crap. I've seen 3 versions of that episode. TNG - Generations, VGR - Threshold, and now Orville season 3 episode 2 I believe.

The last time I watched this episode I realized it was almost kind of a LGBT episode. You have a minority being treated like shit even to the point of they are trying to kill him. The difference is he completes his transition and gets super powers and gives his people trying to kill him the finger. Meanwhile I'm sitting here in fear that #45 will return and try to exterminate people like me. It's terrifying what's happening. I have no faith in biden. I never did. I never wanted him. The only thing positive I can say about him is he's not #45.

When I was a kid I didn't like this episode because of the outfit alone. The outfit grossed me out. But I like the episode now. I just don't like the outfit. lol

There was one thing I did like. When he touches the wall and heals everyone on the ship all at once, I thought that was really cool.
