I remember he went down under and chip directed some of the best of the 35 episodes of the bring back of mission impossible at this time during the time he was doing work for both next generation and DS nine

Kudos to Aaron! Prodigy is amazing. The art is beautiful, and the story keeps you engaged. Love letter to all Voyager fans too. Really hoping for more seasons.

This episode didn't start out as the centrepiece of Trek lore. It was simply an episode to resolve the borg invasion, teased in S2's Q Who (the fourth attempt to establish a primary series antagonist after the failure of the Ferengi, the S1E25 Insect creatures, and the Romulans). It was later writers who built on the lore of this episode, who established this episode as the centrepiece event of the Star Trek franchise. It provided material for TNG writers to write about the fallout from this episode (Drumhead, I Borg, Descent, Parallels, the movies) DS9 start came with the Battle of Wolf 359, a core event in Sisko's life. Voyager referenced this episode heavily, particularly after Seven of Nine joined the crew. Picard S3 is a spiritual continuation of this episode, with most of its characters affected if not directly involved in the borg invasion. Lower Decks and Star Trek Enterprise even manage to sneak in a mention. It seems to be an exceptionally popular episode with the fans, the writers and the actors involved in star trek.

don't get me wrong. I love prodigy. I love this season, but it's not up to PIC3 or SNW (1 or 2). It's a close 3rd.

I've seen this episode hundreds of times. Wolf 359 means something, but at the same time it has its limits. Perhaps because I was 8 when I saw this? But this time it made me think of shaw. I kept hearing "Space itself was burning". It hit a lot harder than before.

I feel like you could have made it an hour with Elizabeth alone for part 1. I haven't even seen part 2 yet. I'm guessing it too could have been made another hour. lol It's just hard to fit so much goodness into an hour time slot where the guest is only half the review.

As a kid, I thought there were a couple of times I thought Shelby went too far, but I didn't hate her. I actually liked her. I was searching for strong female characters (without realizing it) back then. It's one of the many reasons I loved Tasha so much.

I love this episode! I love 2-parters anyway but the fact that it is a 2-parter really lets the story stretch out and allows us those character moments between Riker and Shelby, Picard and Riker, Picard and Guinan etc. I love the tension, the music, the conferences around the table. The safety of our hero ship contrasting with the peril of the situation. I noticed that Riker said the away party was scheduled for dawn, so when Shelby and Data went down to the planet an hour early, they would have been in the dark.🤨 That in itself could have been dangerous. 🤔 Separate. The. Saucer. Section.

Great have Elizabeth Dennehy on as a guest for this one. She's pretty awesome and engaging. Cirroc and Ryan did their usual thing to keep the interview flowing along and giving out those well deserved flowers. The FFA was pretty awesome with all the opinions hitting that note of excellence we've come to enjoy from our Associate Producers, great stuff there and the Live Chat with the #ChatPack was rocking along as well. What a crew that #ChatPack, the Next Generation of #ChatFam!

I think it was interesting hearing that Wolf 359 is not just a made up location in Star Trek but based upon reality of a real location. I had no idea that it was near another Star. I also loved hear Cirroc say he felt emotions just hearing the terms of Wolf 359 and how it made him feel emotional.

I'm pretty sure it's the same footage. I think DS9 used it as well. It's cheaper to recycle footage that to make new footage.

I grew up in the score to the Best of Both Worlds Soundtrack as a child. I would listen to this and the Best of Star Trek that had different tracks from the first 5 films both on Cassette tape. Ron Jones score is so emotionally driven and memorable. I would play the music score to the Best of Both Worlds over & over and over again. The music never gets old.

walter wasn't present in space seed , yet khan says in star trek 2 , yet i think the rest of the crew where on other decks and during a scene khan bumps into chekov , the nexus pulled kirk out of the ship to later be bumped off on that lousy planet with that crazy mad man , doomsday machine one many good written episodes 23:47 the apple , and walter/chekov was in that episode 28:38 i sort of noticed it and there other episodes that had sort more serious ending tone ,, maybe the episode , the alternative factor , or space seed , the happy music ending for , the trouble with tribbles , thou thought it was funny the creatures beamed onto the klingon spaceship i like it when kirk realises the constellation was attacked and orders red alert with the dramatic music builds up the tension for the episode

There's just so much love captured in this series and appreciation for those who were on and off the screen making things grow. thank you so much <3

Most of our sets were black and white. We only had one TV down in the basement black and white, my brother had a mini TV that was black and white. I saw my first color TV from someone else in 1972 and we didn’t get a color TV until 1974 for the Den and then in 1977 when the basement TV went dark. Why fix it when you can just get a new one. Probably others had color TV’s sooner. In 1950 came the first TV remote control and 1956 was the first wireless remote control for TV by Zenith. We never had a remote. You had to get up to change channels. Some TV’s had the rabbit ears you had to adjust to get rid of a bad picture then everyone had an antenna on your roof, we had a UHF converter for the basement TV but when the wind blew or it was rainy you got a static like picture jumping which was annoying and then years later came Cable and it didn’t matter how bad the weather was picture was always clear. Shame we have to pay now to watch TV.

In Where No Man Has Gone Before, Gary Mitchell took a tape from the literary library to read whatever book and with a button you could advance it. The wonders of futurized stuff. McCoy used lasers for surgery that eventually became a reality. Kirk’s communicator, bingo flip phone type of construction.

Those cards as you aptly describe them were tapes they could put information on. For instance in the Changeling in order to resurrect Scotty, Spock had one of those square tapes, slipped his computer to transfer data on human nervous system data for Nomad. It was played at high speed for Nomad to absorb. I guess you could equate them to the old floppy disk but but solid and sturdier. In Court Martial these tapes were put into the computer, flip a switch and the computer’s voice would read what was on the tape of who the people were in name rank, serial number, commendations. Who knows how much information you could squeeze onto one tape. Who knows why they were different colors.

Some probably grew up never seeing the original series that started in the 60’s. I didn’t until three years after it was cancelled in 1969. It was syndication of the original series that sparked all the other Star Treks from TV to movies. I always felt that the ones coming after just weren’t the same. Always having to modernize everything. Now of course the show Enterprise was before Kirk’s time. But the original series started the ball rolling especially with syndication. Where I live the channels changed. Star Trek the original series had to be dragged in with UHF converter to get our channel 61. Then it moved to channel 43. There is no more ch. 61. Now that Cable is around, it’s on a completely new channel not 43 and without Cable you can’t get anything on TV. There was no such thing as cable or having to pay to watch TV when the original series came out. You were lucky to have a color TV. First time I saw Star Trek original series in color I was amazed. I was living with a teacher’s family at the time in 1972 briefly and she had the first color TV I ever saw and found Star Trek the original series flipping channels to see what was on. But On Demand to snarl your way through so many Star Treks including the movies, you have to specifically pick Star Trek series and that’s the original.
@lisanidog8178

Using the original series reference untangles everything since there are so many Star Trek spin offs that wouldn’t be without the original series. If the second pilot didn’t sell, who knows if a third try would’ve happened or if they just moved on.
