Black risotto and Dalmatian pasticada with gnocchi. That's traditional on Croatian coast. Also, the Croatian fish like John Dory, Red scorpion fish or Amber Jack is something you must try. The tastiest fish in the World.

Great video! I'm glad you've enjoyed our food that much! My advice for you is to visit also continental Croatia that is full of beauty on it's own. For instance eastern Croatia where I come from is full of interesting cities and places but also extremely tasty local traditional dishes! Kind regards from Slavonia, part of Croatia from which this spicy sausage (Kulin or Kulen) came from!

LOL the Shlivovits "Oh Holy Hell" heheh. I was on a train in Croatia where there was a wedding party ON the train. The bottles of Shlivovits were being passed around to the extent that it was almost an insult to the new couple to NOT take a sip....or two. That stuff will knock your socks off.

Who drinks Sluvovitz in DU? You got it mixed up with other types of rakija, like loza, travaricu (herbs flavoured loza) and, to a lesser degree, anisette, my favourite. And that goes for the entire Adriatic coast. Slivovitza is popular in non-mediteranian areas.

@PureDetour
@PureDetour Жыл бұрын
On our older videos we never put prices on the items when we did food tours. We did do monthly cost of living videos but in Croatia we stayed in Angela's family home so we didn't do them there. However, just know that it is Croatia and Croatia is a not a super cheap travel destination anymore. Prices I would say are very comparable for dining at any major city in North America or popular European destination.

Kopun? I would love to eat there right now! However I have been in SE Asia for a year with no plans to leave anytime soon.
@Kivas_Fajo
@Kivas_Fajo 10 ай бұрын
@@PureDetour I can completely understand that. Though I think squid, octopus and cuddle fish is something the Asians very obviously have no clue about how to prepare it right. Talking about it being hard, stringy and not good in general...was my experience there. Fish is also not prepared well iyam. The rest is delicious though. Depends on where you are. Thailand...yep, delicious. Bali, nah, all sucks, when you are not a millionaire. Chicken with rice or rice with chicken is all they can do somewhat good...sometimes.
@PureDetour
@PureDetour 10 ай бұрын
Going to have to disagree with this. I love cuttelfish and I don't think I have had a really good version in all of my travels throughout Europe. I have had countless delicious versions in SE Asia. I recently ate the most tender squid ink pasta with squid chunks I have ever had in my life in the Philippines although I would agree with your general squid and octopus sentiment. I would also disagree with your Bali/Indonesia thoughts. If you know where to find good Babi Guling then only the Philippines lechon will rival it. Great food can be found there if you know where to look. Malaysia is also a very underrated foodie destination and I would put them along with Thailand in my top 5 for my favourite cuisines in the world.
@Kivas_Fajo
@Kivas_Fajo 10 ай бұрын
@@PureDetour See, that's where we apparently differ vastly in taste buds. Babi Guling? I was at one of the best, always full with locals, restaurant on Bali and it was bad. I was told it was the best, but if their best is still bad, how bad must their not so good Babi Guling be? It was dry af and cold. In Germany we have a saying for how they prepared it. They killed it twice...and in this case three times. Once in the slaughterhouse and once with cooking and a third time by serving cold "BBQ". I was told it is always served cold. Now you tell me a cold, dry, well overcooked and stringy BBQ pork is good? I can't see how?
@PureDetour
@PureDetour 10 ай бұрын
@@Kivas_Fajo, to be fair, you could have just been there on a bad day or maybe the place wasn't as popular as you might think. I can take you to a place in Ubud that will make your jaw drop. As to it being cold, that is common even here in the Philippines. Once the pig is cooked it is sold until it is gone. Now here, there are places where an entire 45-50kg pig will be gone in 20 minutes and they sell 4-5 entire pigs and are done for the day. Most of the mall type places/ big chains etc. Pigs could be a few hours old so it is room temp at best.
