I watch several home improvement/construction/building web sites. If they go over 10 minutes I seriously conside skipping them or skipping through them. When yours is nearly 30 minutes I am dissapointed they aren't longer. Cudos to Alyssa on editing and on both of you for content. There are several KZfaqrs who criticize you for not being truly "off grid", but I think you are practical and living in the 21st century and taking advantage of all the latest technology and utilizing all the collective building information so you can to build the best home for the future. Keep up the good work and I hope you are able to keep producing these videos. I have work in conventional building with my father since I was 12, and I have learned so much from you guys and hope to continue doing so in the furure. Still hoping you upgrade your solar for a more practical use for your home, but it is expensive and you have to have a home to apply it to first to see how to scale it. Love the garden by the way. And Bugaboo too.

I have seen you both work through the toughest problems and figure them out.I was a little surprised to see you have a bit of a negative attitude on the difficulty of the project at the beginning. Not saying it's easy or am I the one hanging in a basket 30 feet in the air. Just I've seen you both attack the toughest issues and come out on top. I thought at this point you'd think rakes are a piece of cake. You guys inspire me. I appreciate the work you put into the videos. Most of all I like how you work together.

When fitting roofing screws please remember to fit them to the highest point of what you're screwing, if you can :) .. If you screw to the flatter surface at its lowest thats where most of the water goes and more prone to leakages in the future. Looking good and coming together nicely. Very enjoyable viewing thank you.

I have served 2 years of my apprenticeship on a construction site with 125 houses being built and i couldn't believe how much of the products we fitted came with instructions and they where just left in the box or thrown away and when i asked why they always say because they don't help and the manufacturers all live in "perfect world" scenarios.

The ice cream maker you have is a lot of fun and works well. But at the volume that you do, you really need an electric one! Get an electric one that doesn't need ice and rock salt and save yourself the mess too! Save the old one for picnics and parties. But for mass consumption, I recommend "Go Electric!" ❤🌅🌵

Two things, You want to get a 42 circuit panel for your house. That will allow you to separate things for easy trouble shooting. I've worked with electrical for 44 years so I do have an idea what is going on. Second Item there is a company that makes a clamp that will allow you to clamp 2X lumber to the standing seams on your roof. This would make installing the roof cap child's play. Also if you ever have to do roof maintenance you now would have a platform to do it on.

Glad to see a cleat on the fascia side for the rake. You can always smash your rivets using two hammers. You need c-clamps and proper angle cut snips to get a nice finish. Your straights maul the metal. You can do all this solo as you get some emotional momentum. Good to see you getting to the finish details.

Seeing the pressurised bulbs used to seal off your pipes gave me an idea for checking your water pressure. Could you make up a tap fitting that fits your water tap with the valve mounted in it and accurately check your water pressure with a digital tyre pressur tester.

I imagine you are done the fascia already as it seems the videos are released after the work has been done. Anyways when you use the pop rivets it is a good idea to use a flat washer on the backside. It will help make the pop rivettighter . You have to hold the flat washer against the backside while you are using the pop riveter. Cheers Jesse and Allysa ! :-)

Theres an easier way to seperate yolks. Empty eggs in saucer one at a time. Steralize a plastic carbonated beverage bottle. Turn bottle upside down, squeeze some air out of it (with lid off), put on yolk and let bottle suck it in as you release some on side like letting air back in. Put in seperate bowls.

Set the cleat inside the rake trim and set one end.. slide the trim up then set the other side remove the trim and the cleat will be in position to fasten properly.. put a few screws in the fascia to hold it in place... Your soffit should have been installed prior to the fascia by the way...

Good work guys....Much better idea Jesse with the screws though it would look much better with the pop rivets. In Australia, your cladding our roofing fascia is pretty much a snap lock deal and any corner or adjustment is all rivets to keep everything clean. Having said that your rivet gun is fine but when you're in a situation like you're in the finish can be compromised as you are aware. You either need both hands on the rivet gun or one hand on the job your working on and one on the gun. The compression of rivet half work and half don't. I would recommend and trust me you will not regret this to either go Milwaukee 12V Pop Rivet Tool M12BPRT0 or pneumatic especially with your capping that needs to be done. Great work to Elyssa for her multi-tasking abilities and would like to recommend WD40 or RP7 for all stickers, tags and barcodes that have to be removed from the cooking utensils..ie: The whisk Jesse was using to make ice creme with.... Previously I had watched Elyssa making jam and she was pretty keen on finding a better method for checking the temperature. I believe not just for the kitchen the list is endless that the Infrared Thermometer as a choice being a safer more reliable source. Body temperature, Automotive, Paint prep, Roof, Radiator, Fridge, Hot tub the list is endless.....Good Luck

Eave cladding first, near impossible to fit in the space as the wall limits it. Best no screws in the top in the pan let the adhesive do the fixing there. Along the side of the flashing is better than in the pan. Persistence is a quality you have! You will win!

I'm sure it's too late, but I am curious. With the bend the way it is, it seems like you would be able to put the trim on to the cleat with it folded out far enough for you to see fully behind the trim then once you validated that the whole run is on the cleat, fold the top up to the roof and screw it down. Did you try that?

Seems like your everyday normal is chaos (at least in this season of life) so today is just gonna be more chaotic!? It’s reassuring to know that I’m not the only one who deals with chaos every day. Keep up the good work, take time between absolute chaos to recharge your batteries and remember your sanity and marriage are more important than the house. (Course, there is a level of house doneness that will help your sanity and marriage-which seems like to be where you are now) prayers for endurance, y’all take care.

60 mile winds hitting that face will move it back and forth , if you know anything about metal bending it or moving it back and forth many times weakins it and then it breaks. If you want to get 30 years out of that roof attach that cleat for support to minimize movement. Also any time you put screws in is a place it will rust and after five years it will look like shit!

You mentioned it already in a previous video and I can see in this one that you have a lot of Stink-bugs. It would be interesting to see which species it is. There is in Europe an infestation of the "The brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB), Halyomorpha halys", that we also call "punaise diabolique" in French ("diabolique" as diabolical, I think due to its shape). It came from Asia and now moved to Europe (and there is no export fee on this one). It creates, when in large number, devastation in cultures. People are asked to kill them when found in house and not return them outside. Also, they are installing traps to help reduce the populations. Not sure what it is done here in US but you may want to look at installing a couple near your garden ? entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/veg/bean/brown_marmorated_stink_bug.htm
