Living so close to each other means you need to respect each other's boundaries. It's always best to discuss your intentions with others especially when it involves them or their property. Whilst you have good intentions it may not be what the other person wants. Communication prior to action is key. A lesson learnt for the future. Dixie was just resting her leg 🐎

Dear Lester... Sometimes, we alllll just plain ol have a shitty day... Whether by physical pain, feeling blue, or just plain ol feeling like it's a good day to keep your lips pressed together. Hoping y'all both realize love is more important than possibly busting the family w i d e open--- but more importantly, who knows how long our bid upon this earth --- God forbid!!! ---But if your daddy passed tomorrow, you'd feel like dog shit FOREVER, trust... @Ann Green Being mad at somebody for one particular thing is different than trying to get along with an angry person who is not going to change. It's probably best for your mental health to stay away from him. If he wants a relationship with you he should come to you an apologize. If not live your life without him, as sad as it might be to accept.

We lived next to my in-laws for 18 years, my father-in-law would get it into his head to do something on our property, without asking how we felt about it every once in a while. I was allowing seedlings of maple trees to grow up in our front pasture to provide shade for our horses. They weren't little anymore, they were a couple of years old. But one day, he showed up with his bush hog and ran them down, every single one, it made a bunch of noise and I wouldn't think it was good for his bush hog, but he worked at it until every one of them were down and mangled. I cried with frustration and was pretty angry, BUT, I didn't say anything. I didn't say thank you either and he never said a word about it, ever. It was a very strange thing for him to do and I ponder it to this day. But we never spoke of it, I just stayed quiet so I didn't say something that could cause bad feelings between us. He has done other things like that, but that was the biggest one. I had some wild flowers that came up on their own, they were some kind of sunflower, a huge mound of them and I just loved them, they were not on the boarder of our property, they were on the far side, but yet, he got it into his head that I would want them to all be cut down. Again, I said nothing and he said nothing. I don't know if he thinks I'm ungrateful or not observant, I just don't know. But it sounds like you were doing good for the benefit of the driveway to look good, so your Dad, who might decide to try and do it himself wouldn't have to. I did kind of get even with him, I got a new horse and had rags tied around the fence to show where the fence was and led him around it for a week, I thought that he was familiar enough to turn him out, so I did that. The Sun must of been in his eyes, he ran straight towards the fence, hit it, flipped over the fence, managed to catch his halter on something, causing his halter to get pulled off of his head. He landed in my father in laws freshly plowed garden. So he had a fairly soft landing. I ran over and clipped a lead rope around his neck, just as he was walking out of his garden and took him back home. He left hoof prints going out of his garden, but there wasn't any going in. He saw the hoof prints and was walking the edge, obviously looking for how the horse got in his garden, to be able to walk out. I didn't say anything and he never said anything. But my horse was fine, never flipped over the fence again and just thinking about him trying to puzzle out the mystery of how he got horse prints coming out of his garden brings a smile to this day. I was able to get the halter from my side of the fence, so there wasn't any people prints in his garden. Living close to relatives can be challenging at times.

Living next to in-laws can actually be a nightmare. We did that for awhile and they thought they were in charge of both homes. I eventually had enough and moved back home to Florida even though I loved Oregon. It was just too much drama, I guess.

My sister had a great idea that if she was to ever hit big on the lotto or powerball, she would buy a huge plot of land and separate it into four. And each of us siblings would get a piece to build on. I have always said that is great in thought but we could not live that close. We all love each other but don’t want to live that close. I understand each side.
@Julie0liver3 жыл бұрын
Ahahahaha. There is absolutely NO WAY I could live that close to my sister. Or parents. We have enough problems sitting at one table for a wedding! I had the same idea for my children. Maybe your family member was having a bad day. People tend to lash out at the ones they love the most and that day it just happened to be you that got the brunt of their bad day. I'm sure they know it was not your intention to to remove what was planted. You, Jami, and your family are loving and have very kind souls.
@bluenoser20083 жыл бұрын
I doubt the bush/tree was the reason for that family member’s anger. That is just what was in front of him/her to use to freak out. I have found that in my own family. Digging deeper than the original reason usually finds frustration, sadness, abuse, financial pains, fear or depression. That’s not to say the behaviour was warranted but maybe a sign they need support.

I yelled first that he destroyed Easter flowers, which made him say, "I didnt know. Guess I won't help out anymore " Explained to son that I appreciated him BUT next time let me show him where flowers are hidden. Maybe your family member could do the same & you as well,Lester.
