I read some of these insulting comments, and I have to say that everyone starts at a low skill level, and I think they have guts for getting out there and trying, much more than the keyboard warriors. I just cannot see myself insulting anyone just because they aren't as good at something as other people. No one starts off as an expert.

Look man, we're just upset that this is being represented as Tai Chi when it's just very poor amateur wrestling. Tell me why no one believes Tai Chi is a real martial art anymore, except for these fake Tai Chi "fighting" events that aren't even real martial. Go see what happens if you try this when someone is allowed to strike. You will learn very quickly what is real and what is not. People should not misrepresent martial arts for petty aggrandizement, because it leads to people getting hurt.

I call this comedic bruit force. I can't see why judo and American footballers and chair fighters don't turn up as it's a brawl so why not just go for it as it has little to do with the art of push hands or chi sau that has many strategic skills and takes a long time to learn.

Starting hand placement seems a bit too close. Interesting the tournament required that.

It's sad to see an outstanding tool for personal martial skill be cheapened into a wide-stanced, double-weighted contest that only proves how fast you can push with absolutely no connection or internal strength.

Its rare these days too see taiji grappling done well. Idk if its just not passed down anymore or if the people teaching it just don't understand how it works. Most of what is on youtube has been watered down and butchered like the stuff ya see here. Gives it a bad wrap to the viewers that are not familiar with the oldschool methods and how to actually use it.

Yes sir. I pushed all night after a big thing down in Tampa with the men's champion. We both had the same coach (Kam Lee). It was pretty even all night. I remember him saying , "this is how it's supposed to be." Then he told me about tournament push hands. I was flooded at how sloppy it was.

Hell, if the guy is bigger and using brute force, I'll just dislocate the knee with the first step. Guys like this are so stiff, you have to pause, tell them to look down, so they see you're just about to cripple them. 90% don't seem to know the counter, which is just to step back. It's like these world push hands champions who haven't even mastered the basic orthodox Yang push hands exercise, because they've only ever gone straight into free form nothing.

This video was too long. Halfway through it, I got hungry so I left it playing and went to the kitchen to fix myself a sandwich. But then I found out that I'm out of mayonnaise so I went to a store. There, I saw the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my whole life. But I'm a really shy person so I took up a three-year personality development course so I could introduce myself. She was very friendly and all, but unfortunately, she had a boyfriend. So I said, all good, I'm a mature person. I wanted the best for her and I harbored no illusion that I am the best person for her and she seemed happy with her boyfriend, so I didn't bother her anymore. But we kept in touch and we became friends and I got over my crush on her. Then she broke up with her boyfriend, we drank some alcohol because of it. I told her she'll be fine and I wished her well. I still think she's the most beautiful woman in the world, but like I said, I am over my crush on her. It was like five years already since I first saw her. Besides, I am quite happy with the friendship I developed with her. It was more important than a crush. So we kept hanging out, drinking, having coffee, and all. I had a girlfriend, she started dating other guys. My girlfriend wanted to live some other life without me in it, so I said, "Okay, I want the best for you and I want you to pursue your happiness." My lady friend and I drank alcohol about it, and she gave me the same advice I gave her when she was in that position and I became okay with the breakup immediately. But we were really drunk, so she spent the night in my apartment. I only have one bed, so you know what that means: She took the bed and I slept on the couch. But on the couch, I really can't sleep. Something was bothering me. So I tossed and turned for about three hours, then I finally couldn''t take it anymore, I stood up and went straight to my room where she's sleeping. I approached the bed, gently sat on it and I reached for her shoulder to pull her closer to me. She stirred and woke up. She asked what's up. I told her, "you know, the first time I saw you, I was watching a video and left it playing to get myself a sandwich then went to the store to get some mayo then I got so distracted by life that I forgot to finish the video." She said, "You know what, I've been wondering about a weird noise in your night drawer." So we opened that drawer, and lo and behold, there's my phone and this video still has two minutes of play time on it

Lol u could say that. I prefer it over bjj because it helps you develop a solid base, I don’t like rolling around 😂. These are some pretty vanilla matches. Push hands can get pretty fierce, especially when the practitioners know joint locks.

From someone who enjoys doing what I was told was the concept of push hands! Now that concept did not lead me to this! But it did lead me to a great skill, that I will be using for the rest of my life and this is not it! Absolute Law A law of nature which is thought to be unchanging in principle, even though circumstances may vary the way in which it is applied. Its similar to natural law which is the rule of conduct supposedly inherent in the relations between human beings.

Worst Tai Chi I’ve seen yet. The great master Cheng Man-ching wrote: (1) “The fundamental movements of Push Hands are contained in Grasp the Sparrow’s Tail.” See Cheng Man-ch’ing. Cheng Tzu's Thirteen Treatises on T'ai Chi Ch’uan, translated by Benjamin Pang Jeng Lo and Martin Inn. (North Atlantic, Berkeley, CA, 1985); first 2 lines of Push Hands chapter, p. 189. (2) “External martial arts use ‘hard force’ and ‘quick techniques’ … When others use hardness, I use softness to neutralize … When others use movement, I use stillness.”(Op cit.,13th treatise, p. 21, 2nd paragraph); in other words, any time you use strength or speed to defend against an attack, you are not doing Tai Chi.

No footwork. No balance. High School wrestlers could take most these guys. This is not real push hands. May not know much about ICMA but I know enough and have watched and trained with enough folks to know that this is some Mc Dojo mess. The competition I mean - the competitors follow the rules and structure dictated by the organizers. Seems the women put more work into technique and balance. Bravo!!
