Standard form really is nonsense. Do what feels good for you. Pay attention to your personal leverages and body mechanics.

@AustinCantu Жыл бұрын
I have that feeling too. More strain on my wrists that makes me have to stop rather than muscle fatigue. My chiropractor said to use things like those squishy office stress ball things to strength the muscles in my hands and forearms that provide wrist stability. I’m gonna give it a shot 🤷♂️

@Mansory8116 күн бұрын
Nothing to do with tall, just long arms.
@dojanglesclimb6 күн бұрын
Arms and triceps stronger than chest probably, and also wide may be new to you so the nervous system has some catching up to do. Gains should come fast at first if that's the case. Good luck!

I used to always do wider hand push ups due to my "ape arms" I was once told..some reason I've gone back to a narrower hand position over the years, but after a week of wider hand push ups I'm seeing the results. I'm actually working my chest and not my shoulders and triceps

Finally someone explains my problem! I always thought that i’m just weak and can’t do push-ups like normal people and all I need is to make my shoulders stronger and then start working out my chest ! Longer arms not only a problem for push ups, also when you lay down on your back and start chest workout by using dumbbells you will never be able to stretch your arms fully to the ground to lift the weights up against your chest. We need to cut a little bit of arms 😂
@dojanglesclimb3 жыл бұрын
Shoulders are probably over worked. Go wide with your hands and you should be good. That will build a stronger and more flexible chest and give your shoulders a break so they can recover well and grow too. 👍

Yah that's something I realized a long time ago, when people were doing "push-ups" checklists and said that there should be a 90° angle at the elbow and it should be shoulder width appart, was absolutely impossible for me. It's even way worse than you on the vid, it's like a 20° angle. So it always hurt my shoulder and I couldn't "go hard" so I hated push-ups. Now I still hate it, because I find wide push-ups unfun, but at least it works better.

What if one has long arms and weak thin/wrists.what tip do u have ??
@dojanglesclimb Жыл бұрын
Try holding a plank. Once that feels comfortable you should be able to do push ups without wrist pain. You could also try push ups with hands gripping dumbbells.
@arabiyya Жыл бұрын
@@dojanglesclimb thank u!!! Yes I read somewhere about the steady dumbells push ups. I'll do that. I have no problem doing planks but my wrists are super weak and thin and long fingers don't make it easy either. Haha. Thanks x
@dojanglesclimb Жыл бұрын
@@arabiyya unless you have some sort of condition you should be able to make your wrists stronger over time. Keep exercising in ways that load your wrists. The push ups gripping steady dumbbells will help condition them for sure. You could always do specific exercises for the wrists such as wrist curls too. Or you could do biceps curls in different hand positions and focus on starting the lifts with your wrists. Hopefully that helps.

@dojanglesclimb Жыл бұрын
@@Colmez8 elevate the feet above hands and keep your body rigid and straight as you push up. Should hit the upper chest at that angle. If you need more for the triceps try pull downs on rings from a plank position. If you have access to a gym with weights and machines there are many many more options. You may have to experiment to see what feels good to you.
