This was recorded in the spring of 2020 but was never uploaded. Though it looks almost identical this H it is a different tractor : • Farmall H Moved by Kub... But is is a bit confusing unless they are side by side. Instead, they are currently nose to nose with one inside the shed door and the other outside. The note must be made now that both are up and running and all recorded on video. The first one has been converted to an alternator and this one here has remained essentially the same, time not allowing performing electrolysis on the gas tank or deeper investigation into the charging system. This one, iirc, is a 1940, and I think the first one is a '45. This older one IS however a very smooth runner and usually starts with little more than a bump of the button.
There will be a 'first start' video shortly....unless the gremlins ate the SD card or fiddled with the ones and zeros to make this H appear to be an Oliver 88 or a 77...I mean you know for a fact that strange things happen. The gas tank is pretty nasty internally after having sat at the previous owners property for years after his death with a partial tank of fuel. After its arrival here I did all that was required to get it fired up. I think I bypassed the switch with a hot wire to the coil and MIGHT have cleaned the carb.....I say 'might' have because memory fades with time and there has been at the absolute minimum 7-8 years pass since she fired the last. If you saw the gasoline can I hung on the side as a temporary fuel tank you'll remember its sat there long enough for the rust maggots to eat their way through it. That doesn't happen overnight !! So that tank, in the court of Public Opinion should serve as Exhibit #1. I rest my case......
There contains within the video a few comments about moving a heavier load with a small tractor and the things to consider when hooking to the loader. There is mention of the compounding contribution to tipping and traction while performing this action in this fashion on a hillside. Even a slight change in elevation of the terrain changes the balance point of the tractor and the higher the loader is in the air the more care should be taken.....even on the level. Now may I mention that these thoughts and opinions are not for the discerning and experienced compact tractor owner...it is merely suggestions of things new tractor owners may give pause to consider.
As stated above, the 'first start' of the '40 H is already behind us so all that remains to be done to is find it in the archives and edit it for upload. But wait a minute...You guys need to see how a Freon tank is converted easily to make a temporary fuel tank.....don't you ??

Thanks Powrguy for the comment. I think there's a lot of new compact tractor owners that may not be 'in tune' to the subtleties of moving something heavy with these little guys. So its probably not a bad thing to call to attention the little things that more experienced fellows take for granted. Thanks again and have a wonderful weekend.

Good evening Sir, you are the best tractor driver for moving two tractor at the same time with gentleness Sir !!! and that Kubota of yours with all four tires chaines as great traction for sure !!! That has been a very long time since I heard 1.6 IMP Gallons, before in Canada were using that mesure but we switch to US Gallons but with the same price at the pump and also before that we had aslo the same gas octane as in Europe too,,,,,,,,,,, Can't wait to see that next video Sir Cheers !!!

Dang...I thought you guys still purchased gas by the litre like Europe. I also have a 5 gallon container that lists Imperial Gallons too. That was my two stroke mix container when I rode an RL 250 Suzuki Trials bike that had no cranckcase injection system. I bought that bike new in '74 and its still in the lean-to today. LOL so is the gas can.... Can you imagine that...something 'old' still sitting there ??!!

@@daveyjoweaver5183 I think they recommend several small fires each one getting a bit hotter over a several day period. I'm sure you'll get a chance to make a little smoke and ash pretty soon !! My Much Older Brother spends three days heating our huge limestone oven to 1000 F with nothing but kindling fires. Its hard on this old man to turn and look backward and keep one foot on the brakes and the other on the clutch. I also own a H the engine aint any count. How’s that Kubota like running the front and rear chains? I’ve only ever run rear chains on my little B series Kubota 4x4s. I’ve been curious about running fronts in the snow and slop Divided opinions on the subject. I run turfs and only chain up in low traction, no loader with 3 suitcases. Thanks!
@tractorman4461
@tractorman4461 3 жыл бұрын
The cool thing about opinions is they are right to everybody that has one. Conditions determine the use of chains I believe. Moving snow ?? 100% all four wheels, especially if you have hills and valleys to travel. Ice?? Same thing. If you’ve ever loaded a winters manure pile with a two wheel drive loader tractor you will NEVER doubt the usefulness of chains when you are knee deep in doo-doo.... OR in the mud. Muddy hillsides and slopes are tamed easily by chains on all four. I don’t worry about the ‘dreaded’ change in ratio or the increased grippage doing damage to a compact tractors drive train. Nothing but baloney (my opinion) because that’s what differentials are for. Also they are generally so overbuilt for their diminutive physical size and weight so the added grippage of four chains just cannot possibly stress the parts and pieces enough to cause harm. (Opinion). Besides, you are off pavement on non-solid surfaces primarily so the drive train will just churn up the turf, gravel or dirt instead of trying to snap a cast frame or bust an axle. Very hilly terrain covered in sharp stone like this area take its toll on tires. Especially unchained tires. They will spin and gouge into the rubber and in severe cases puncture. Four wheel Chains minimize this potential because they very often snag the sharp edge if the rock and quickly propel you over before the tire spins. Not always, but often. Guarantee tires will last longer with less damage due to rocks, roots and stobs. I try to run chains all year round in the little B3030 as well as the Allis Motor Patrol and several other 2 WD tractors. Hopefully Drew, that gave you a little bit to ponder. LOL. Yes, I guess I have my opinions. But like I said they are right for ME and remember conditions determine chain usage. Btw.... we loaded the dairy barns winter manure pile into spreaders with a Massey Harris 44 tricycle front every spring to fertilize the fields. Always an aromatic experience.... and shall we say .... aaaaa..... muddy too !! Had to take our shoes off to go in the house for at least a week !! MUDDY...?? Yeah right. Still smell it. (-:

Yeah I leave them on all year round. They were on all 4, but the RR slipped off and its not been put back on yet. So right not she's riding on three.....I think. I'll have to check. LOL. But I keep about three tractors with chains on all year round. Dow off a rocky hillside the chains will sometimes snag a rock and save your tread from spinning and slicing into them a bit. Then they help a ton when you deal with mud like we get to too. I'm so used to them being on, I'm going to have to check both rears today.... to make sure. (-:
