Hypothetical situation: There's too much fluid in the extruder, and it doesn't fit under the hydraulic press head. Possible solutions: a) Unscrew the extruder and pour a little bit back out. b) _Use a forklift._

In the first press with the thinner non-Newtonian liquid, it definitely cleaned the hamburger out of the top of press. You can see bits of dried up burger flying in the slow motion.

There are Finns who can't do that. It's called "ärrävika" and most people with it go to speech therapy to get it fixed. And yes, people with it can get pretty "brutal" treatment from others for it - it's something that will get pointed out constantly ( even if people aren't trying to be mean ) since the letter R is quite common and distinct.

The press is quite versatile machine and you can always make new tools for it. I just got new CAM-program that allows me to do really hard tools that have really complex 3d-shapes in them so that's the next thing to spice up the things.

My thinking is this: anybody can crush stuff. Lauri and Anni are what set this channel apart from other press channels. They walk a fine line of informative and silly, and strive to produce better quality content as time goes on. It has been fun watching this channel grow and evolve, better cameras, themes, more advanced video editing..but they make sure to never evolve it so far that they stop pressing shit. And Anni is always coming up with better and better bonus content. You go girl.

There are 5 types of non Newtonian fluids 1 Diltant 2 Psuedo plastic 3 Bingham Plastic/ideal plastic 4 Thixotropic 5 Rheopactic These fluids are explained by Ostwald's Equation And these fluids don't follow Newton's law of Viscosity

What would happen if you hydrolic pressed liquid with no holes? So you are essentially compressing the liquid, could the hydrolic press push it down? Assuming the liquid/water won't leak out up top. I would like to see that and how it would react.

Compressing liquid in a container with no holes is how a hydraulic press works-liquid *doesn't* compress (i.e. its volume won't change), it just transmits pressure. Some clever dude figured out how to use that fact to make a thing that presses the shit out of stuff. If you applied the hydraulic press to a container of liquid with no outlet, you'd find out whether the press ruptured before the container or vice versa. :)

The interesting part about the non newtonian fluid comes when the press's pressure rises. You can clearly see the fluid behaving more like a solid at the beginning of the rise in pressure, but once the pressure peaks/is constant, the fluid behaves more like a fluid.

It exits like Silly String and comes down and solid globules and then it forms a liquid when it hits the table and the rest of the fluid! This is the coolest video I've seen you do so far. Very good work! :-)

I heard about non-Newtonian fluid way back when Mythbusters first came out. There was an episode where they were trying to walk on water and, if you could imagine, they eventually got around to adding a non-Newtonian substance to the list of "plausible" things. Just ordinary water, cornstarch, and food colouring.
