Just some constructive criticism here. The main reason your falling behind on your friend is your not getting your braking done before you start turning. You’re losing all your speed because you’re turning in early and braking too late, which will cause loss of speed through the corners. Don’t be afraid to hammer the brakes hard before approaching the turns while you’re still moving straight, but don’t dive down low and turn in too early. Stay well to the outside of the turn and resist early turn-in. Once your braking is complete, make your turn-in toward the apex. Then, get back on the throttle early as you approach the apex, smoothly increasing your speed as you exit the turn & let the car go all the way to the outside of the track after exiting a regular turn. Don’t be afraid to use the real estate that the track designer gave you. I hope this helps. I have several years of auto cross and track day experience & this tip from instructors and other more experienced drivers has dropped my time’s dramatically. Thanks for the great video!

Congrats on the BRZ. Glad to see you are enjoying it and having fun. These BRZs were setup from the beginning to happily slide around on their skinny tires and soft suspensions, which makes for a very fun experience. Also, the price point and having a warranty makes it easy to send it into any corner at the track with a smile on your face and no worries. I think that freedom and the way the car is setup to slide around excites you. To be fair, your 997 had a lot of issues from day one from the previous owner, which I think already set your mind up to worry about it. You probably never felt worry free driving it, especially at the track. Porsches are much more serious cars all around both in price and handling setup. This makes for a serious machine to handle versus a fun toy to drive. That mindset has a lot to do with how you attack a track and whether or not you have more fun. I have dozens of track days on my 997 C4S and love the way it handles. After driving my brothers 1st gen BRZ, it was fun, but the 997 is on a whole other level and I would never trade my 997 for a BRZ. That's just me though. Great content, keep up the good work!
