Thanks for addressing the anterior placenta question! I was informed at my 20 week ultrasound that my placenta was anterior, and it was nice to hear your professional take on it (on top of what my doctor told me). I can attest that I don't feel movements/kicks like my pregnant friends describe. Typically I have to hold my stomach to really feel his movements. Congrats to all the mamas! Stay strong!

Sarah, I seriously adore your channel. You provided a lot of good info to me during my pregnancy and I just want to applaud you for your wisdom. I’ve studied birth and birthwork for yeeeears; I’ve devoured clinical studies and journals and books etc., and everything you talk about and the advice you give is spot on - which isn’t a given, as I’ve seen some birthworkers/nurses/even doctors give some really bogus or outdated advice, or they don’t explain things in the easily digested level of detail you do. Thank you for your contributions to the community!! 💙💙

Sarah Lavonne Birth talks always seem to end at pushing the baby out. It doesn’t have to be a whole 4th trimester or even the 6 weeks, although that would be great. But even just the postpartum in the hospital from placenta delivery to first pee and poop, managing the bleeding and pain, etc... Thank you, Sarah. :)

Absolutely love your channel! I gave birth two weeks ago and binge watching your videos really helped to prepare me for what to expect. Contractions were bearable up to 5 1/2 cm, then the midwife gave me pictocin to make things go faster. Things went downhill from there as it relates to pain and I basically gave myself an episiotomy..... not fun at all.

Sarah! Question for you! My local hospital offers epidurals and also something called an intrathecal (intrathecal narcotics) which from what I understand is a one time injection into the lower back and it allows you to still walk around/go in the birth tub/be on the birth ball/etc. while still providing great pain relief like an epidural does. Can you speak to this procedure and give details on your experience if you have witnessed an intrathecal? Thank you!!!

I always measured 4-5 weeks ahead and I ended up going into labour at 37.5 weeks and birthed a 9lb baby via c/section because she just wouldn’t come out even after 50 hours of back to back contractions. Imagine if I went past my due date??? They’d be going straight to high school from the womb. I was 8.5lbs and 6 weeks early and my partner was 10.5 lbs when he was born. Hoping for baby #2 soon but please pray for my vagina. 😐🤞🏻💖

Only thing my dr told me when I found out I have an anterior placenta was that the placenta is cushioning his kicks so that's why i wasnt feeling him kick @ 20 wks they said to give it another mo & I'd start finally feeling him I ended up feeling him kick @ 22 wks. I also have a heart shaped uterus which is common in those w/ endometriosis like I have forget the tech term but it's not the bicornate one it's one of the others but she said depending on where the placenta attaches he might be breached which he was @ 20 & 22 wks now I'm @ 28 wks & I'm hoping he'll turn on his own

Can you make a video about inducting earlier due to medical issues? I am currently 37 weeks 3 days, My son has IUGR. We have an induction date set at 39 weeks but we may be induced sooner depending on his next growth scan. With IUGR waiting past 37 causes risk for still birth but also I know smaller babies sometimes can’t handle the stress of labor. What do you think is the best decision for us?

Just when they were taking me i had the pushing urge that i couldnt stop and was screaming. Question is This time around now that i know that pushing urge , i want to wait for it and save my energy for that since it was so strong and seriously seconds apart from each other. Do i have to push once i get to 10 cm ? Can i wait for that urge or would i be told i cant wait till i feel it ?

Sarah, thank you so much for your videos! I’ve learned a lot and it helps to be able to laugh about this stuff. I have a question for your next Coffee & Questions! I’m 34 weeks and have herniated discs from several years ago (L3-4 and 4-5). Never had surgery because doctor didn’t think they were bad enough, and thankfully they haven’t been giving me too hard of a time while pregnant. My OB had me consult with an anesthesiologist though to make sure an epidural will be an option for me. He said the location of the herniations isn’t an issue, but the epidural could possibly cause more back pain after birth because of the disc issues (or it could not!). I would really like to give birth without an epidural, but I have no idea how I will tolerate the pain! Just trying to decide if it will be worth the risk. Do you have any insight/know of any mamas that had a similar situation?
@sarahlavonne
@sarahlavonne 5 жыл бұрын
shortest answer ;) you can do it without an epidural. EVERYONE CAN. it will be one of the hardest things you ever do but you can totally do it. Do everything to prep to cope (take my coping with labor class) and then flex and flow in the moment and if you're suffering, nothing is worth your mental health. xoxo

Do you know anything about prodromal labor?! Im 40 weeks and 6 days with my second baby. My midwife swept my membranes for a second time last Thursday, and I have been having contractions since then, but they tend to start, go strong for a few hours, and then they just stop. This is super frustrating, and I was just wondering if you had any advice! I was induced with my first baby, and was hoping to have a natural water birth this time around. Im just a little nervous about being overdue.. my sister had a tramatic experience with her placenta detaching and it was just not good!! I know not all overdue women have that happen to them, but the thought is just kind of scary.

Im 29+4 today October 2nd 2019 and i have an anterior placenta this is my third baby I had five miscarriages so it's my 8th pregnancy. I had my son and September 2006 I had a lot of problems at delivery and almost died.. I was in a medically-induced coma for three days..i had HELLP syndrome and became septic when my amniotic fluid became infected and it spread to my lungs uterus blood my entire body basically..my son had to have oxygen and antibiotics for his lungs because they were infected from the amniotic fluid.. I had five miscarriages between January 2007 and December 2016.I never had money for any type of fertility treatments but all of a sudden in June 2017 I got pregnant in the baby stuck I now have a 19 month old daughterand my c-section is scheduled for December 11th 2019 for a baby boy.. I was really nervous about having an anterior placenta with my daughter because we only firm and have cows and I feed the calves and I was afraid the Cavs would hit me in the stomach and my placenta would detach but everything was okay and this pregnancy seems to be going pretty well.I love your videos you're so informative you're not afraid to say how it is you don't candy Co things to take fairaway you just give very informed videos and all the information we need to make our own decisions. Definitely happy I found you this pregnancy

Can you do a video on intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy? I have it, and have had it for 2/3 of my babies, and I can never find educational videos on it.

Yes!! I was told my first was going to be 8-9lbs. He was 6lbs 8oz. That was by ultrasound. My second was guessed at 7&1/2 pounds. He was 7lbs 6oz. It was by my doctor feeling my belly. Weights are just a guess no matter how you do them!

Lol lucky you! My belly measured 4-5 weeks ahead and it was assumed I’d have a big baby but I wasn’t worried, I didn’t think my body would give me a baby I couldn’t birth. BOY WAS I WRONG. I went into labour at 37 weeks, after 50+ hours of ACTIVE labour and back to back contractions I birthed a 9.1lb baby via emergency c/s because she just wouldn’t come out. Imagine if I had gone overdue?! I was 8.5lb and 6.5 weeks early and my husband was 10.5 lbs when he was born so maybe it’s just in our genes to have jumbo babies. Lol Hoping for baby #2 but pray for my vagina 🤞🏻😐😂

My poor sister in law is tiny. Double zero waste and her baby was 12lbs. She struggled in active labor for 36 hours to ultimately have to have an emergency C-section. Idk how she did it that long.

Is it normal to NOT have had any vaginal exams at 37 weeks? I am considered a “High risk pregnancy” due to Gestational Diabetes & the type of care I have been receiving is completely different than with my 1st pregnancy. I will be induced at 39 weeks...I could possibly already be dilated...right :(

Yes. Your cervix is not a magic eight ball. Even if you're currently dilated to let's say a 2 or 3 it doesn't mean you'll be going into labor soon. Some doctors like to do them some don't. But if it is your preference to be checked then I would simply ask your doctor to check you.

There's a risk for infection when doctors check you, so doctors may want to minimize checking patients.

YUP! that's the standard! Most providers don't check until 38 or 39 weeks, even 40 some times!! you could be dilated but unless you're in labor it shouldn't make a difference. xoxo

Hi! Im currently 25 weeks pregnant and have had spinal fusion surgery to correct scoliosis. I've been told by my doctor an epidural is not an option. Have you had a patient with this before? If so, do you have any tips? 🧡🧡🧡

Killed me that with my first the "Dr" did not explain she was a student..... Her personality totally clashed with mine she gave me a panic attack by the way she was talking and seemed completely unaware until her supper interrupted her. The first few visits she came in without the super and being with a clinic that had 5 midwife's and 7 obs I just thought she was one I didn't meet. Made things very dramatic in a way I feel was unneeded. If I had known earlier I would have asked that she not come back to me. With my second I had an anesthesiologist in training learning proper placement of epidurals. He was great supper calm bedside manner we got along well.
