A huge thing I love about death is actually the whistle. When Death is angry, or on the hunt, the whistle has a certain tone. But when Death releases Puss, it has a higher pitch.

Also you can see Death in certain scenes in the background earlier in the movie. AND the death cards when Puss is recalling his past lives with the vet are designed with the wolf.

What’s interesting is that whistle is a common belief in many countries around the world. Never whistle at night or in a funeral because you may never know that death will be knocking at your door.

Here's an interesting detail that shows just well written the film is: At some points in the story, both Goldie and Kitty mention "birthday wish rules": that if they reveal what their wishes are before they make them, then their wishes won't come true. Death, Jack, Goldie and Puss all reveal what their desires are before they get to the wishing star: Puss tells Perrito, Jack tells the Crickett, Death tells Puss and Goldie tells the Bears. However, Kitty doesn't reveal what her wish was until she arrives at the wishing star and, fittingly, she's the only character to get exactly what she originally wanted. EDIT: To clear up any confusion, I'm not implying Kitty literally got her wish granted by the wishing star but that, thematically, her 'wish' is the only one that came true with no change in perspective or magic.
@Deathbird_Mitch

@@karlluigi1987 I'm sorry if I didn't explain myself well. I don't believe Kitty made a literal wish, but that she is the only character in the film to get exactly what she wanted without having to compromise or change her perspective. So it's very fitting, thematically, that not only is she the only character to not reveal her wish beforehand, but that when she does it's when she's on top of the wishing star.

@lobachevscki
@lobachevscki 8 ай бұрын
@@NickCTorresThere is no overlap between Fortiche's work and recent work in major animation studios. First, Fortiche was founded in 2009 and their first batch of works were music videos and commercials and the styles among them vary wildly, from 2d animation to quasi photorealistic stuff (if anything is that variety what allowed them to achieve Arcane stylistically). First approach to this style was precisely the trailer Get Jinxed for LOL in 2015 and then they jumped into developing Arcane. Into the Spiderverse started pre production in 2014 if not earlier, it was developed completely independently. On the other hand Dreamworks executives have been very open about how they pushed the animation of The Bad Guys and Puss In Boots towars and Into the Spidereverse, they cited the movie as a direct inspiration.

Death is up there with Shen and Tai Lung as the best animated antagonists ever. He's so menacing and terrifying, the voice actor was on is A game. And the thing I loved most is that he's not a bad guy, he's just a force of nature and even when Puss overcomes his fear of him, he reminds Puss that he'll be back. A great message that no one can outlive Death

As a person, Death may have been a little fair-minded, definitely wise and has had self control in order not to eat Puss because he leaned onto a moral code, but he is also cold-hearted, sadistic and a bit arrogant. As for the "valuing life" part, I think that because for mortals it's such a superficial and a philosophical topic that we don't realize that for a supernatural being like Death, valuing life is plain common sense, so we make a big thing out of his character when he's just mostly sadistic because (I believe) of the power he possesses over living people, despite valuing life. That's all from the storyline but in terms of the narrative, yeah, Death was a massive helping tool to bring Puss towards redemption. Without Death, despite him enjoying tormenting Puss, Puss would have just wasted this life as well. All things considered, I still think he is one of the best. He is the embodiment of the "lawful evil" alignment and the "supernatural villain" archetype, which is a villain you cannot defeat, unless he pauses or defeats himself. In this case, Death just changed his mind, he didn't expect Puss to have a change of heart and it ruined his plans on killing him prematurely (which is cheating) and eating him.

So one thing to point out is the reason why puss is so scared of the wolf in the bar is because in the beginning while he was singing he said I have never been touched by a blade and the sickle drew blood meaning that's the first time in his life he's ever been struck by a blade and it caused fear which is why he essentially was running away from the rest of the movie up until he found out he was death...and watch the cat eyes as they talk to each other it will change perspective as well

Anubis, the Egyptian god of Death, is a bipedal dog/wolf creature. And scythes are common harvesting tools in ancient Egypt. So on a pure visual level, the Big Bad Wolf's design tells you who he is right away. On some level, you know who He is. When it's revealed who he is, the audience never questions it because they were already "told" long before that.

I love Death's design for this movie, he's def my fav antagonist in a while. His glaring red eyes are piercing in every scene, even when it is dark. He's not even evil but just an antagonist to teach our MC to some humility and be humble. It's fun because you can see him early on in the mountain troll fight while the crowd is doing the wave to emphasize his omnipresence as Death for Puss's 8th death. Wagner Moura did such a good job with the VA too to sell the character, esp during that opening when he's emphasizing "Fear."

"Thats the scariest character I’ve ever seen!" "I'm getting a tattoo of him!" Ah, the two reactions to Death wolf. Yeah this film is amazing, and the re-watch details are great, from the bell tolling once for each of Booth death’s in the giant fight, to death hiding in the title cards or background of scenes, there are just so many details that are fun on a second watch. 11/10 great film. Also, “rival teams of criminals racing to reach a wish-granting space-treasure in the centre of dangerous mutating ruined landscape” means that this technically has the same plot as “Roadside picnic” and that is just very funny to me.

I really am glad they kept the dog as upbeat as he was and there was no crazy twist with him being secretly bad. Same with Little Jack Horner and his role in the movie as a straight villain. With as many characters as they had, they gave a lot of information about each and none were ignored. Honestly brilliant movie and was so surprised when I was hearing good things about it and finally went to watch it. All the Easter eggs from other animated and live-action movies were well done. There was a part at the start that reminded me of some shots in Attack on Titan the way it was directed. I liked all the development of the characters and I definitely think Kitty Softpaws overheard Puss talking about the church and wanting to be there, so she lied and said she wasn't there either being more understanding, because after that she acted differently. Just so much to love about this movie. The magical bag is from Mary Poppins and he kept pulling out magical items from all over other movies. To name a few of the random items from the movie: Poison apple - Snow White, Trident - Little Mermaid, "Eat Me" snack is from Alice in Wonderland that makes Alice grow massive. The grasshopper/cricket was a reference to Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio. He literally says, "let your conscience be your guide." a lot of other ones too.

I believe Kitty didn't came to the church that day. As she said, she knew Puss won't be there because he's too full of himself. Or at least she was afraid of that. And decided to leave him before he can hurt her. Although, at the end she somehow knew he also didn't come and was eager to guilt trip him through the beginning of the movie. But that might be another story.

I tend to agree with the prevailing theory that Kitty didn't actually stand Puss up, but only said so to make him feel better after hearing his confession and learning he's changed. Otherwise, her being mad about it or even knowing about it would not have happened. Her issues were of loneliness and trust according to both herself and the map, and though it may have come before Puss showed up in her life, him ditching her at the alter shows how her life became this way. And I'm pretty sure the two Puss movies are meant to take place on opposite sides of the Shrek movies, so she's been alone for a long time at that point. Love the style of fights in this movie, Puss is an Ackerman confirmed. Just the perspective and depth in the giant fight when he's avoiding the bell and then riding it, man it's a treat to the eyes.

If you take the first letter of each sentence that Goldi opens the book on it says, "You already have it." The ending of the fairy tale is talks about how the protagonist sits on her father's lapå and watches the starts with her family. The issue with having no fear of death is that you have no respect for life either, as shown by Puss wasting his lives in utterly idiotic ways. You need to acknowledge that death is a real thing that serves as an end to life to enjoy the period you are alive. That was the lesson that Puss learned. At the end of the movie, he fears death and accepts the finality it will bring and that's what allows him to enjoy the life he has and treat it with respect. At that point, Death has no reason to harvest him anymore so, he leaves. Death is also neither good nor evil, death just is. The star would have been incapable of wishing Death away as Death is unaffected by its powers, as shown by Death casually walking through the barrier, twice. Puss only had a chance against Death since Death had reduced his power to the level of Puss' to enjoy the game more.

They used this kind of animation for one another movie before "Bad guys" then use it for this movie. So good ! And The Death was amazing, one of the best character.

Death is one of the most metal characters I've ever seen in a movie, let alone an animated film. I remember watching this in the cinema, and that part where Puss is running from Death in the cave (with the background turning blood red as Death appears on the walls) made me go..."Ok, this is actually really fucking disturbing", lol.

I'm very happy with the more whimsical "Spiderverse" direction that animation is headed. Companies have been trying for realism in animation for so long, but as technology advances, these "realistic" animated characters just become part of the uncanny valley sooner or later.

This movie clearly happens just before whichever shrek movie where Puss meets Shrek. At the end you see Puss's boat arriving in Far Far Away.

Okay, this show is good, but for amazing? For the best Western ever you need to see this show! One minute into the first episode of 1883 and you will want to binge watch to find out what happens to Elsa... It starts with one season of 1883 then it goes to the same family in the show 1923, then it has 5 seasons in present day called Yellowstone... I CANNOT believe that MTV did this show! Harrison Ford, Kevin Costner, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Timothy Dalton, Sam Elliot, Billy Bob Thornton... I can't believe the lineup of talent! This is the BEST Western saga ever!

One of the best animated movies I've ever seen. It's realy, really rare for sequels to be better than the first movie but Last Wish is a masterpiece.

Not really rare at all. Toy Story 2 & 3, The Incredibles 2 , How to Train Your Dragon 2, Lego Batman, King Fu Panda 2 & 3, Madagascar 2, Cars 3. Really a lot of Pixar sequels and basically every DreamWorks sequel. Then there's universally agreed Across the Spider-verse is one of the greatest films in all of animations. My personal fave is An Extremely Goofy Movie over A Goofy Movie. Honestly I can name more, then there's the ones I haven't seen but a quick Google search can confirm

I remember being put off by the egg too when I first watched the first movie. It was super uncanny and weird, but I was able to push past it. I found the character pretty funny and I was endeared to him by the end. Also of course he isn't here, he SHATTERED into PIECES. He's gone, dude.

Here’s a question: other than the last appearance where everyone sees and acknowledges Wolf-Death, is he ever real in this movie? There certainly is lots of deaths going down left and right when Jack is at the posies and elsewhere, but he’s never seen by anyone else? I say Puss is visualizing and hallucinating until that last segment, when the magic is palpable.

He's a force of nature, like the gods, he can exist in multiple places at the same time. He's in the damn cards when Puss died for the second time. Also, well not everyone will just watch in his direction, even less see him, even less notice him. But I thought something similar until the end too.

I have a theory that Kitty is lying about not showing up to the wedding I think after hearing what Puss said she is giving him an out while also giving him a way to win her back. I don’t think she would be as angry as she is about it if she didn’t show up.

There are so many hidden things in this movie. Like sure you have the obvious of the wolf hiding in the crowd, but what about pausing at the Goldi wanted poster? Pause when the 4 faces are on screen for a bit of a spoiler on motivations. Then you have perritos map that has some very dark disturbing things on it hidden behind innocent names. This movie was amazing, hands down my favorite in many years.

Where this movie works and Disney doesn't is the bad guys. Disney used to have the greatest villains, now they have over sensitive bad guys who we have to feel sorry for instead of fearing them. Death in this movie is truly scary

Death's portrayal in this movie was simply breath taking. Bc this version of death seems to respect life, rather than just dishing out death. other literation's the reaper we know comes for you and leads you to the other side. We know that meme of death meeting someone and it ends with death saying no you were the best. Or like *spoiler) last action hero death just tapped someone and they later died or he was like he's on my list but you're not you die an old man. some beg not to be taken, some are to young to know what happened, some are to far gone mentally to realize what happening, some are/were suffering, some try to prolong, some sign and accept his hand willingly. But puss squandered and wasted 8/9 lives. It was only when puss cherished/valued his life that death let him go, bc when he looked into his eyes at the end it wasn't a bluff or ego he normally had when they 1st met. They'll meet again, but not yet. Death shouldn't have played with his food and just ended it from the jump.

Shrek's fourth installment is definitely worth reacting to, after the dip in quality of the third it bounced back, however it is still a very polirizing moving among critics but I think is because of how different it is from the rest of the series. I consider the second one and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish the best of the whole series. I think a Cinecringe reaction to third one is a good idea.

For the movie Mac N Me the cool thing was they had the lead kid in a wheelchair who was actually disable and it was no big deal. Movies would normally make a big deal out of it, but he was just a normal child and that is what I like as no one treated him like he couldn't do anything.
