See the work of the late professor Antony Sutton. The Soviet Union was sustained throughout its entire history with loans and technology transfers from the west. The EDI standards from previous decades are well established for message passing systems. EDIFACT, XML etc message types could be registered for inter party communication. I myself have worked on military, commercial, banking & civil, message passing systems on a large scale. data stricture, validation & processing information can be carried & interpreted from just knowing the registered message type ID

Also in Russia the SBP (The faster payments system) has been working for several years already. I guess it's like FedNow. You can transfer money to anyone by their mobile number. And all the terminals at the grocery stores are promoting it as a first choice for payment. The fees are much less than those of the banks, I think

I heard that to have a CBDC account in Russia a person must go to a bank and open that account, but only one per person. So, may be formally they don't need accounts for everyone with a Central Bank and it will work similar to phone numbers. It will be kept and managed by your bank and when you will change banks the account will just follow you into another bank.

If people disconnect their "happiness" from material wealth, not much of this matters. Relatively poor people, like myself, won't see much of a change in standard of living, because we (already) have networks outside the system. We're the production of society, and we'll figure out the work arounds like we have done for a millennia. It's The top 20%ers, that depend on the system to make money with money, that are the ones that will take the biggest lifestyle hit. They'd better get those soft manicured hands ready for some dirt and blisters.
