Russia's defence minister Sergey Shoigu has claimed that since the start of this year, forces have claimed over 400 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory. According to an assessment of the battleground, Russia has made big advances on the battlefield since the fall of Avdiivka. Ukrainian military officials have also expressed concern over the dire situation at the frontlines, saying that without aid, more cities will fall.

Russians start slow, but finish fast. Even in WW2, the Germans handed it to them, all the way up to Moscow. But the Russians came with a massive counter offensive which surprised and over-run the Germans. They are patriotic, that's for sure.

@@mythicalmeanderings from a technical point of view, USA started bombing Germany on January 27-1943. Paulus did surrender on January 31-1943. In el Alamein, Rommel lost in november 1942. From the moment the Nazi lost those two battles, the war was lost for Germany. Germany was defeated by UK and USSR. USA entering the war was done to prevent USSR taking control of all Europe. USA entering the war did just change the end year of the war, it was 1945, without USA, UK and USSR would have crushed Germany about 1947 or 1948. But since there was no major interaction between USA and Germany before the strategic air command started to bomb Germany, since USA didn't influence Germany's path before january 43, since the war was already lost at that moment, well, USA didn't win the war. USA joined in to accelerate the victory and ensure that western Europe wouldn't become a red zone.

If you really want to look at telling figures of how this war in Ukraine is progressing. Looking at territory gains is not the determining factor. Russia has lost around 55,000 men. To put that in perspective Russia lost around 14,500 men in 10 years of war in Afghanistan and the US lost about 58,000 men in eight years of the Vietnam War. However, Ukraine has lost over 450,000 men and that is more soldiers lost than the UK lost in the 6 years of World War 2.

400 sq kilometres is only 20 km by 20 km. Ukraine is 603,628 sq kilometres. If Russia were to take territory from Ukraine at a similar rate that it has done in the last three months it would take 377 years for Russia to take over all of Ukraine. But this war will not be decided by territory claimed in combat but by resources of men, machines, morale, infrastructure and money. How long will Ukraine last when they are losing soldiers at an alarming rate, when their air defence system, artillery systems, aircraft, tanks etc are being destroyed faster than they can be replaced and when Ukraine's economy has become dependent on the West's dwindling financial support. Now Russia is also systematically destroying Ukraine's power grid, its bridges and its railways. How much territory Russia is taking is really irrelevant. This is a war of attrition and Russia is winning.

Not exactly possible to lose what was not yours in the first place! Kiev and all territories eastwards of the Dnipro - which flows through Kiev - have been Russian not for centuries but for over a millennium. Kiev is where the first Kings of the Rurikid Dynasty were crowned and this Dynasty - until Wall Street instigated and supported Bolsheviks brought it to a bloody end 100 years ago - was unchanged through the entire millennial period I believe! (Lands west of Kiev were cobbled together less than a century ago (1926) by the said Bolsheviks from the region of ‘Ruthenia’ which were politically unstable following the loss of power of the Hapsburg Dynasty.)

I don't like Obama, but he was right. On the Russian border, Russia is the strongest. As for the others on the Russian borders or near it, firstly, I don't know what a Ukraine in NATO will look like. But, I know what a NATO in Ukraine looks like, a clown show. So maybe Ukraine in NATO will look like the opposite, a show for clowns. NATO in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, and Norway, and, all in NATO, looks exactly the same. Beyond the Hollywood cartoon actions and tough cowboy talk of the WEF puppet rulers of these nations. Well, by now they ought to know the outcome if they allow US-NATO to use their country as launching platforms to mess with the Russians.
