"They bleed the Russians and they cause the Russians to expend those additional people and extra materiel."
Ukraine will seek to use Putin's push on Kharkiv to "bleed" Russia's tanks and manpower as the Kremlin is forced to refurbish older equipment, says RUSI's Matthew Savill.

Last years counter offensive didn't fall short of expectations! I dont think any military would sign on to an offensive like that without air superiority. It's not happening now either, and that's the point. Russia has already lost more men than it ever will on a monthly basis. The trend isn't going up; it's going down. You can't be attacking with smaller rifle companies and losing more men-it's just not possible. Time Radio isn't a serious channel for this topic. None of them are. All the pro-Ukraine fanboy channels, whether run by pros or amateurs, have been spreading the same false BS for months now, using the same unreliable sources. This isn't about Russia-we know they lie. But they're not making the West lie. Just like saying Ukraine has 800,000 troops-no serious journalist believes that. If they had that many troops, they wouldn't be deemed combat ineffective by the US over a year and a half ago. The level of nonsense coming out of the West, unrelated to Russia, is so thick that I need windshield wipers to clear my eyes. We already know the final result, so much so that it's not even interesting anymore. Unless the F-16 swoops in like a falcon and changes everything-which, hey, I'm all for-it won't remove minefields, trenches, dragon teeth, or anti-tank ditches. By the way, Russia has retaken some positions over the winter that took Ukraine months to capture. This is the main reason for the counteroffensive failures in 2023. Now that they're combat ineffective, it's unlikely any of that will ever be removed. So, the West's great plan for something they know is over is to keep sending Russian and Ukrainian troops to the grave by the thousands. Great plan, man. Great plan.

There are technical issues: 1. Light behind the guest it far too bright (are those windows to the outdoors?) and 2 audio from the guest is apparently coming from a computer microphone? and not from a dedicated mic, meaning audio is not balanced with the host who has a dedicated microphone.. This takes away from an otherwise fantastic interview. Too many barriers for the viewer to deal with. Maybe this might be redone with more light coming from the front, and less from the back and use of a dedicated microphone for the guest.

With Ukrainians destruction of their logistics and smart planning , they should be fine if the F-16s show up along with plenty of artillery shells . The Russians have sure learned a lot from their previous mistakes, but the Ukrainians have learned how to defend their positions and use attrition of the opposition forces to maximize their gains and try to minimize their losses like no other army on the planet. I am concerned that the Russian contract recruitment is providing a steady flow of troops who are making gains. Russia will be able to see that tapering off and can begin to revert to a defensive role and push for an armistice to conserve what it has taken. Look back at many wars with major powers involved and how exhaustion sets in at 3 or 4 or 5 years. I am not thinking of wars against relatively modest opponents (Afghanistan, Iraq). I am thinking of Korea, WWII, WW1, even the American civil war. Freed slaves joining the Union Army in the last two years of that war brought it to a close. Americans arriving in 1917 helped bring WW1 to an end. Both sides were exhausted at the end of the Korean War. I don't see Ukraine being equipped sufficiently to recover all its territory. It seems that it is being equipped to turn the tide on a minor scale with the Western goal of reaching an armistice. Bringing in Western air forces to supplement the Ukrainian air force could culminate the current war. There would be the nuclear saber rattling and a settlement borne out of high stakes. Putin has to put on a show to save face. What Ukraine very much needs once an armistice is in place is Western forces in country to deter further Russian aggression.

There's a lot of talk about diverting Ukrainian troops... why does that matter? It takes ruzzian troops to divert Ukrainian troops, and it typically takes more troops to attack than it does to defend.

Lack of combined arms strategy and tactics by Ukraine? How exactly does Ukraine exercise a combined arms strategy and tactics, without F16s. The Western Nations pushed Ukraine to launch a counter offensive without AirPower and tied their hands when it came to striking targets in Russia. Ridiculous.

What about Ukraine's meat wall tactics to compensate for a lack of equipment? Sending men to the front with less than a week of training? Can Ukraine even stay in this fight until 2025 when the situation on all fronts is critical already, morale is sub zero and mobilization failing? And then the Russian summer offensive hasn't even started yet.

@@icu17siberia Of course the Russians have been silent. Their leadership is quite competent and as such know enough not to discuss military details in the international media. They don't allow their generals to get on tv and tell everyone what their plans are, how many arms they have, what their problems are and such, as the NATO countries do. No competent military leadership would disclose the details on casualties and losses during the course of the war because you don't want your enemy to know that. You don't want your enemy to know what kinds of problems you're having or what your weak points are. I'll bet the Russians are quite flabbergasted that they can get on KZfaq and go to Times Radio or DW to find out the details of the Ukrainian military plans. They know exactly what arms are coming in, when they will arrive, how many there will be, and so on. There are apparently no restrictions or limits at all on what the NATO generals can say on tv.

Such nonsense. The Ukrainians lost month ago. Sensible people would be negotiating for peace. The longer they persist with their nonsense the less and less of Ukraine they will be able to retain. They could have retained it all, but the Americans were having nothing of that. They are going to lose Odessa.

I keep hearing criticism of the Ukrainians re: their inability to carry out "combined arms warfare"... but one of the most important "arms" of these operations is AIR POWER, which the Ukrainians still don't have. Yes, NATO forces carry this out, but with overwhelming airpower superiority. So far, we have not been capable of supplying the Ukrainians with the equipment and training they need to apply this force! The insistence on their using the F-16 - which requires and entirely new training and supply/maintenance chains instead of giving them additional Sukoi and Mig planes that are available and which the Ukrainians could use more quickly due to familiarity has overwhelmingly delayed their application to the war.
