Putin: Ukraine Would Have 'One Week Left' If West Cut Off Aid

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday, October 5, that Ukraine would have a “week to live” if arms supplies from Western countries were to end the next day.
Putin made the remarks during an hours-long live-streamed press conference at the annual Valdai Discussion Club event in Sochi, Russia, while responding to a question from Mikhail Rostovsky, a long-time columnist for Russian state media outlets, about whether Putin would object to Ukraine joining the European Union.
Putin said he would not object, as the EU is an economic alliance and not a military alliance like NATO. He went on to say that neither Ukraine’s economy nor its military defenses could exist without foreign support.
“Imagine, if deliveries stop tomorrow, they would only have a week to live until the ammunition runs out,” Putin said, according to machine translations of a Kremlin-published transcript and an English translation voice-over on the Kremlin’s footage.

They never doing very well. After the collapse of the USSR, Ukraine did not develop at all. They have an old infrastructure, old factories built back in the USSR. Ukraine has been nothing like itself for 30 years. Only grain production and prostitutes are Ukraine's achievements. Just like the Baltic countries, they are as insignificant as Ukraine. Do you know what is really funny? The fact that Russia and Belarus have made more economic progress and distance from the USSR than post-Soviet countries. Because they don't live in the past and are constantly evolving

@@polarsoulessmore of a reason to join the EU and benefit from that economic union if in fact that was actually true …but it has been in Russias interest to meddle and manipulate not only the political but also the economic system in Ukraine to gain their own influence….you can see the dismantling of the system Russia has been setting up since the late nineties in regards to countries it considers in its sphere of influence, its complete failure to have any say in the Armenian and Azerbaijan conflict shows how limited they have become …. China and the USA will fill this vacuum in the East and Armenia has started to cozy up to the USA….Russia made a massive strategic and economic blunder that will take decades to try and patch , Ukraine will do very well becoming a member of the EU .

The difference between them is that for the US, Ukraine is not a key strategic interest as it isn’t a security concern for them. However it is a serious security interest for Russia and therefore Russia won’t back down, and is willing to fight a long war. Putin is betting the Americans will eventually get tired of aiding the Ukrainians (as it’s not a key interest) and will want to negotiate. Which is likely to happen, as there have been multiple pushes from US generals for this already, but Zelenskyy is unwilling to partake.

You got proof of US generals are pushing to negotiate with Putin. US aide to Ukraine is a rounding error of the US budget and the money spent is destroying the Russian economy and military. Sure Putin is hoping that Trump is elected, because Trump wants to end NATO. The security concern for Russia is contrived, Ukraine was never going to attack Russia. I guess you need to review some history, Russia is the aggressor in E Europe. Russia is becoming third world and if Trump is not elected, Putin will have to rethink. @@chancergordy So were the prices. I was born and raised in Ukraine. My eastern relatives (Lugansk) were often travelling to Moscow for work while western ones (Chernovtsi) went to Spain and Italy. Usually the jobs were: construction, security, cleaner, babysitter. Even today amidst war Ukrainian wages are technically higher than in Russia, but if you compare them to local prices - it's absolutely the other way around.

It certainly makes Ukraine vulnerable. But Ukraine got used and abused by the west in western fashion. And the west was so arrogant to think they could just go in on Russia like they did Iraq. Putin already proved to the west in Syria he could stop them and their agenda. But these dems made their money and so did some in Ukraine. Zelenskyy is now left hanging out to dry, stood up like a bad girlfriend, and lost 20% of the land. And for what?! Ukraine was never going to be part of NATO or the EU. They got played big time! The whole ordeal is as criminal as it gets. And Ukraine will have to make deals with Russia, which is what they were supposed to do to begin with before they leftists and intelligence agencies stormed in and overthrew their president and cabinet. But now with humility after taking it in the chin. Once again, something the US touches is left in ruins and all for the benefit a very few.

I agree but let me just offer some perspective.... America makes deals. They are so rich because they make al lot of friends. They provide security in return of deals and resources that American citizens enjoy..... I'm not saying I fully agree with American policy but imagine the opposite. Imagine if America just said "we won't supply aid or security to ANYBODY", quickly then the deals they had in place will be destroyed. The countries that they import food and materials from will stop....... America does deals and provides security to other countries so it gets something IN RETURN.... yeah I'm sure not all the return goes to the citizens but one way or another u will benefit at least.... the world envies America, appreciate you don't live in a country struggling in africa😊

Budapest memorandum, Putin should stop going back on his word, and when he signs, if that happens, there’s no war, the US is only supporting Ukraine, when they signed the Budapest memorandum, it was agreed that Russia would not attack Ukraine. If it did, then, the European Union, the US and Britain would help Ukraine defend itself. Against Russia. And that is what is happening now the dictator, Putin should stop signing agreements that he’s not going to keep.

Russias current oil reserve is listed at 80 BILLION barrels. The estimate of how long their reserves will last is 60 YEARS. Also keep in mind that Russia is twice the size of the US. So 'don't hold your breath'.

When second strongest country with 100 million more population, yes, you require help, and west is doing a good thing by helping the weak, otherwise whole Ukraine would have been destroied, because like I said, you have 150 million population country attacking barely 30/40 million Ukraine. Is this fair? What's funny is "second strongest" Russia requiring aid from a country like North Korea and Iran.
