Putin vows to brutally punish 'traitor' Prigozhin and his Wagner mercenaries

Vladimir Putin has promised to “brutally” punish Yevgeny Prigozhin and his Wagner mercenaries for launching an armed rebellion.
In his first speech since Mr Prigozhin declared an attack on the Russian military on Friday evening, Mr Putin said that he had ordered his security services to capture the “traitors”.
“Anyone who consciously goes along the path of betrayal, who is prepared for armed mutiny, and takes the course of blackmail and terrorist actions, will receive an inevitable punishment,” he said.
Mr Putin avoided mentioning Mr Prigozhin by name in his 6-minute speech in the Kremlin and instead appealed directly to his armed forces and ordinary Russians not to back the rebels who have “betrayed” Russia.

Up to this moment there were already clashes with rugular russian forces and losses. The offer was accepted and no further deaths. Prigozhin and some staff was escorted to Belarus and later he was seen in Africa where Wagner is operating (whole different story). Then a plane crashed in russia all passangers died. It was a plane of the Wagner group and all prominent members were on board icluding Prigozhin and Utkin...Russia's Nazi#1. Russia and the USA both say their reports indicate that something inside the plane exploded like a granate, it was not shot down. But everyone knows it's a litte bit much for a coincident :) Putin once said, he can forgive anything but betrayel.

This looks like something out of COD AW. Never at any point I suspected this would happen. I knew of the disagreements between Wagner and the Russian MOD but thought it would remain at a political level (IE, typically political bickering and finger pointing), not full blown armed rebellion. I would imagine a fair few Wagner guys likely have or will defect to Government forces, given that moving forward would be taking part in treason and they might be pessimistic about their chances at winning a conflict against the Government.

Honestly if anything I think Wagner are very confident they can take on Putin. They would not be doing this is they were not. Every Wagner soldier is a dead man at this point if Russia captures them.
