The grinder is a beast! I have expired peanut flour. I wonder if it will be too high in protein? You could by oats at feed store by the 40 lb bag and grind it. Luv your channel!

@@CrackerFL yes be careful the protein is high use it sparingly. Yeah that grinders amazing.

Consider one of the home vacuum packing machines. Put a nice label inside before adding the worm chow. Be sure your product label says something like "Not For Human Consumption" to keep the gumint at bay.

Suggestion: Mark your dial for different settings you use, i.e. bird seed, oatmeal, etc. You are going to need your oatmeal finer than you do the bird seed, based on what you showed. If you don't mark the dial, you'll be having to experiment every time to get the proper setting for the individual ingredient.

So So glad to see you unplug the grinder before you opened it. When I was about 15 and helping my Dad service electrical appliances, he saw that I had turned the wall switch off but not unplugged the powder cord. He asked me if I was happy to trust my life to a little piece of brass held back by a brittle plastic bit. So I ALWAYS switch off and unplug anything electrical l open up. So glad to see you do that. Not just for your fingers, but for your life. OK, so one in a million chance, or someone else turns the switch on, but how many million people are there and how many people get electrocuted each year ? Love your videos.

Here's something that might carry some interest to some wormers. Ive been going with the dry mix, but recently started adding apple cores to the feeding bin and WOW! Currently using 3 trays and all worms have moved out of the bottom tray and are in the upper 2 tray. Thats something that normally does not happen for me and I just deal with the worms in the bottom tray when I harvest. And yes they are all over the cores to where you cant even see the cores.

You will have to use different settings for different materials. Amd I still suggest you mix the grid with something then it will make less dust.

Suggestion: Affix a smooth fabric tube to the output area of the grinder to direct the dust to your catch bin. You are losing some of your worm chow inventory to the wind! Worms would love that fine grind I was thinking you could use one of the legs cut off of an inexpensive pair of pantyhose attached to the grinder with a hose clamp.

Today I noticed some crazy activity in my feeding tray. After removing the cover I noticed the bedding heaving up a bit , appears to be a ball of worms there doing their thing which is fine with me , but hadnt noticed that before.

OK worm lady , I guess Ive been doing dry chow for a while , long enough that Im seeing 2 things. In the last harvest the worms collected were quite lively and moist looking flipping around all over the place,, plus I continue to see a lot of cocoons. I dont know that the latter is related the dry chow but thats about how long Im seeing lots of them. In previous harvests it was as if they were half asleep.

A popular chinease made food mill grinder made to grind....food. Putting oyster shells through it will destroy the grinding discs quickly being that it is abrasive. Might as well put limestone through the grinder since it is chemically the same as oyster shell. Pained me to watch a good machine chew through a hard abrasive...ouch. Not made for that.
@TheGardenAndWormLady

Probably safest to stick with dry chow for your set up rather than risk grinding wet foods. It sure looks like it could produce high volumes! I remember my parents used to run soda crackers through their meat grinder to clean it after they put meat through it. Chris (channel is The Ultimate Recycler) uses a shredder/grinder to coarsely chop wet materials for the worms, but I think his machine stays outside.
