Today my plan is to make "puttu and kadala" for my dinner. So I strated by soaking black chickpeas("kadala") in the morning. It has to be soaked for at least 6-7 hours. After lunch I moved to make the rice flour for "puttu". Rice needs to be soaked for 2 hours, then it is drained and dried in room temparature for the purpose of making flour. Here I used traditional method with "ural" for making rice flour for "puttu". I really enjoyed making puttu at our traditional kerala "ILLAM".
In south India people use aluminium or steel "puttu kutti" for making "puttu". Roasted rice flour mixed with coconut and cooked under steam will give remarkable taste. The smell coming from the steam of puttu will fill everyone's mind with colourful memories.
along with puttu "kadala curry" is the famous combo in Kerala. "Puttu and kadala" is a common slogan which we can hear from almost all "Kerala thattukadas". Today's dinner at illam with family definitely added one more page to my book of nostalgia.

Food is always a precious thing which makes us happy throughout the day. Rasakkoottu is started with my interest in cooking. Through my videos, my intention is to recreate old lifestyle and cooking techniques and visualize those memories to the new generation when ever I am at my home town. I also would like to picturize current food cooking styles in possible traditional way when ever I stay in city. I always like to explore more on traditional cooking within and outside Kerala too. I personally like to prepare the foods by my self and enjoy to serve it to family. There are lots of back end support from all family members even though they are not ready to come in front of camera. Special thanks to them too.
