well I'm streaming this magical tetris challenge, it's lots of whack fun and I like it a lot

I guess we got better at the game since then, although there are ways to make pentoes more manageable, like a bigger field. Even two extra cells of width help considerably.

@@ananshasheta926 the X pentomino, by far. It combines the complex shape of tetrominoes S/Z, and the no rotation of O. Literally only usable if your field has a valley or a 3-wide well.

I don't know about the strategies for all the games, but when it comes to guideline, the rules have more or less been the same for the past 18 years. This leaves plenty of time to notice everything and see how things work and use that to our advantage, for example with how 7-bag randomiser is key in openers or Playing Forever loops. Still, new builds still come out every now and then, especially with how the games had an increasing focus on multiplayer lately, bringing more brains to the table to come out with high-IQ strategies. When it comes to TGM or NES however, I would assume the strategies are more about doing the most of what you have, since there are no guarantees on the pieces you get. You can acquire some better playing habits through practice and learning the mechanics of the game in more detail (I would say mostly rotations for TGM and general piece movement for NES), but it's less the kind of things that you can find on a wiki for example, aside from general tips, because these games are less deterministic. But in both cases, I think the best players in each game have pretty optimised ways to play, either through learning the game mechanics, or gathering knowledge. It won't ever be perfect, but I believe Tetris is the kind of games where even a bloody robot won't play perfectly, so anyone is free to come up with and share their own style, to bring more ideas to the community.

@@Oshisaure I see, the question mainly arises due to the fact that I've always been quite interested about the whole mechanic and how different games have different strategies; specially in tetris 99 and PPT. I'm a mathematician and I've thought about making my thesis about it, so I've been trying to gather a bit more info overall to see what problem exactly I could attack there.
