If you sent 7 lines, then they sent 4 they would get 3, if they were the one to send 4 first they would still get 3 unless you received it, as in on your board, then did your combo. I find no point in waiting

I have the same question too. But consider ともくん may ensure wumbo is having at least 22 combo in the remaining garbages, we just dunno if a tetris in 18 combo could against a 22 combo attack.

Nope, its kind of a strategy The Japanese guy probably judged that letting Wumbo throw garbage lines in his field, and clearing lines just fast enough to not get himself lost, is better because Wumbo can soak up garbage lines unlike the left guy. Also, low number combos will probably be not enough to ko Wumbo so he stalled and let the garbage rack up so he can use those to make more combos. Obviously, Wumbo picked up and slowed his pace. If he didn't then he'd have to spend time making tetris or t spins or whatever, all the meanwhile the Japanese player can combo off his blocks plus Wumbo's garbage.
