I've never really cared for Tetris or Puyo Puyo too much, but holy crap I've played the demo for hours. I now enjoy both immensely lol

55SuperShadow lol, the same happened to me, try dowloading the japanese demo, u can change alot of settings and play multipoint matches without buying the game

I didn't have much Puyo Puyo experience outside of a bit of Doctor Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine on Sonic Mega Collection but this game was a must when I got my Switch regardless.

It warms my heart to see Puyo Puyo getting so much love outside of Japan. Maybe that is also because Tetris is in the game, but whatever helps it gain notoriety.

How about Panel de Pon X Puyo Puyo ?

Both Dr. Mario and Panel de Pon would be pretty bad. Dr. Mario has a very light attack element that makes it mostly focused on finishing your board than beating your opponent into a gameover. In that case, the win conditions are completely different. Panel de Pon has no sense of urgency and tends to take twice as long to finish competitively because once junk piles over the top, that's how it is the rest of the game and gameover is only achieved by not making matches anymore. Puyo Puyo and Tetris work well together because both play at about the same pace and both deal with competitive garbage flinging in a similar fashion.

But people ARE going to be that fast on movement. And then there's just no loss condition outside of running out of ammunition, the opponent can't speed up your dying at all which is unfair. And if you introduce garbage offset then there's just nothing scary for the PdP guy.

I can't wait for this game. I don't get a chance to play video games with my mom that often but she used to LOVE techmo stackers. Which seems to have been based off puyo-puyo. I'm really hoping for a chance to play this with her.

Drewtwo For me, it depends. For example, Super Bomberman R, I think would be alright if it's $40 new, not $50 as I don't think that it's content is worth the extra $10. I am aware of the free dlc which may change my outlook of it but as of now, I still think $40 new would be better. For Puyo Puyo Tetris, I think $30 is fine because the game packs quite a bit of content within it to justify said price.

Yes, but cartridges are more expensive to produce. Besides, FREE KEYCHAINS...at least for the Switch version.

Drewtwo Except they are not free. It's $10 more at retail than to download. Yes cartridges are more expensive but not $10 more expensive.

Btw, this is one of the few Tetris Games where you can get a ‘Tetris Plus’. Play in party mode, receive the Offensive ‘Pentramino’ Power-Up, and clear 5 lines :)

The Swap mode is really fun, and you can play it on the demo. I recommend downloading the Japanese one since it allows more matches before resetting.

Been waiting for this game since it was announced amazon sent my copy early yesterday, been playing all the modes they're all so different and fun and adventure mode is awesome, the dialogue cracks me up, if you like highschool type anime you'll love the story on the adventure

I love both, but honestly, I’m more a fan of Puyo Puyo. Which sucks for me if a professional Tetris player comes up. But hey, America FINALLY gets an official online Puyo Puyo, so no room to complain...

also was the treehouse the one which localized this? if not than NOA has nothing to do with that.. I doubt its the treehouse which did the localization due to it being also outside of nintendo consoles..

The entire point of that character is that he's a somewhat-antagonist toward Arle, but he's very VERY bad with his words, to the point that he's generally called a pervert and creeper amongst the characters.

As a puzzle game, I feel like this just wouldn't gain interest on a regular home console, but I feel like it's a perfect fit for Switch's portability and multiplayer functionality. I'd definitely buy it to play with my buddies if I had a Switch.

All these years I thought Kirby's Avalanche was unique. lol Never knew about Puyo Puyo. But I've learned now that Kirby's Avalanche was basically Puyo Puyo with a Kirby skin on it and a Kirby story.

This game is amazing and addicting. I wasn't expecting much from the story given the reviews not liking them, but I actually really enjoy the dialogue and voice acting.

I might actually pick this up. It's like a jacked up mobile game. Perfect for short bursts of high quality gaming on the go or long grind sessions at home :D

Honestly, even the Demo is enough for us that are really bad at Tetris (Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine was my jam tho) and can still enjoy one or two rounds each day with friends or CPUs. Maybe if it gets a discount I'll get the full version; and hopefully get better at Tetris

I just picked this up yesterday and while I love be the gameplay the AI opponents tend to be...pretty darn brutal. Like completely bury you in less than a minute brutal.

I might have just missed this, but can you actually join rooms with friends? I remember that you couldn't do that in the PS4 Tetris that came out recently-ish. I know he said that you can play with friends in this review, but I'm not sure if that's referring to online or offline :s.

Yes, you can make locked rooms and invite friends online in Free Play. Although you have to make separate rooms for each game type (so if you want to do a different mode, you would need to exit out and make another room).
