The Cutter's advantages over the Corvette is that it has MUCH stronger shields, much faster speed, better heat management, and a much better weapon balance if you favour putting as many hits on target as possible (4 medium, 2 large, 1 huge (cutter) vs 2 small, 2 medium, 1 large, 2 huge (corvette)). Most pilots generally don't use huge hard points because they miss 80% of the time, so most veteran pilots will use large thermals on their huge. Granted, this was a skilled pilot in an A-rate Cutter against two unskilled pilots in what I suspect weren't full upgraded Corvettes buy that's beside the point. sure it's handling may be slower than a Conda, but it is in fact one of the most devastating ships in the game if you know how to use it.

Ha, try 3 beam lasers. I just bought myself a cutter today and the 3 beams together are devastating. My power reserves do drop a little quick, but by the time my beams are out of juice, the enemy shields are long gone, and my Multi cannons are already working on their hull.

They died way too fast once their shields went down. No way those things were properly kitted.

Nah man, they can do what they want. While Ceos Sothis runs are a little scummy, I think all players should have access to whatever ship they want. It's a sandbox game, people will want to play the way they want to, and I think that they should be entitled to that. They should not have to deal with a total stranger telling them how to have fun. Honestly, just focus on your own enjoyment of the game and don't get too worked up if someone is doing their own thing. This kind of elitism is just pointless the way I see things. It's extremely childish to tell someone how to play the game. As for me, I can and do use my corvette primarily for passenger missions because fuck you, I do what I want.

Actually, this is completely incorrect. The Cutter is a superior PvP ship to the Corvette, as it is literally impossible to lose to a Corvette 1 vs 1. If they do get the upper hand on you, simply wake out. You are faster than a corvette, and it does not mass lock you. With the speed advantage, it means you are free to engage whenever you wish, while the Corvette can only wait for you to come to them. Using FA off correctly and doing the whole 'bait them into flying at you while you fly backwards at 300 ms' will mean you will just trade dps, something the Cutter is good at. Then it all comes down to who has better engineered shields. If you are winning the shield damage game, just keep it up and you win. If you are losing, boost out of enemy range, use shield cell banks (this is so they can't kill your shields via feedback cascade), and then go back into the fight. Leave if your shields are down to about 1 ring and if theirs is still higher than yours (if they have SCBs, and you are doing less damage to their total shield than they are to you, then it's lost and you can just withdraw to force a draw). As for Group PvP. Cutter is superior due to it being a good mass lock anchor for your team, plus it has superior shielding potential if you engineer for it. Any big ship in group PvP is just there to be bait; a juicy tanky target while your FDLs do the actual killing. TL:DR Cutter can win or draw vs Corvette only (win vs draw is dependent on enemy pilot skill and engineered build vs yours). Corvette can only draw or lose vs Cutter. That being said, the Corvette is the superior PvE ship due to the pitch, which means it is able to farm NPC kills much faster than the Cutter. It's just a different niche (Figures that Feds are more into destroying hapless targets, while the Empire actually prepares for the fact that the enemy is probably going to be competent :D).

Alexios Komnenos Only some of what you said is true. You're making it much more complicated than it needs to be. Yes the cutter has superior speed. Yes the cutter can decide when it wants to attack. But a straight DPS battle against a competent pilot, the cutter will lose. The corvette is geared for straight combat. Nothing really much else. All the corvette to do, is yes, fly backward. The corvette is more manuevarble than the cutter.. The cutter will pick and choose when to attack, he can pull away to charge his shields or do whatever. But a competent pilot who knows he can't catch the cutter will wait and do the same. And when it happens the cutter comes back, the corvette will be ready and the cutter will lose.
