What did you do for carplay to work? I have built in wireless car play it doesn't work. Also all music comes out driver side.

Glad I could help. You might try calibrating your touchscreen, put all 5 finger on the screen and apply just a little pressure, this will bring up the screen calibration menu

@@gtibbot that helped out a lot. It still goes to a home screen randomly once a week but the rest of the randomness has gone away. thank you

Not that I'm aware of. On this unit video's usually show in the middle of the screen with a box affect of black on top of bottom.

Sorry traded the F150 for a F250. I wish the had a unit for the newer F series

As I noted, there is a learning curve, but once you get to know the unit, its very nice. You can get the Android Auto & Apple Carplay dongle for an extra $50.00 or so, I bought it, be prefer to use Waze for Navigation

@@gtibbot Great thanks. Good advice. I am an engineer so usually fairly good at troubleshooting. I may wait for Phoenix to come out with Android 9.0 or higher for our trucks. Wonder if their 8.1 units will upgrade to 9.0+ or they will force you to purchase a "new" model.

@@TexasUrbanSawmillLLC I doubt there will be any Android OS upgrades, I'm not sure if they have the technical "chops" to do so without breaking things.

I saw that. I still have my F150, but I bought a Tesla Model 3 a few months ago, so I doubt if I will upgrade.

Which model would that be? I'm looking at an android 9.1 fast booting version and an android 10.0 version for my car. Their website doesn't clear things up. I'd assume the 10.0 version would be the latest but they've got conflicting information listed on more than one model.

@@gtibbot Odd must be a ford thing. Not seen your issue on Chryslers or GM. I have always hated dealing with the "Sync" system. It has never played well with others lol. Ironically most complaints from these units are from ford users. Starting to wonder if its just the SYNC system being the little BEEP we all know it is

I passed on the 1st gen Linkswell due to the specs, the 4th gen unit looks better and the GU Auto also seems like a nice unit. Major difference in price between the Linkswell and GU Auto versus the Phoenix unit though. Both the Linkswell and GU Auto system's look much easier to install since they don't reuse the OEM Sync Module or OEM climate control boards (both of these are removed and reinstalled onto the Phoenix unit). This is probably why they cost so much more than the Phoenix unit. If you have a newer F150 with Ford Pass, you would lose this feature since the Sync module is not be used. Also, if you currently have Sirus/XM, you would lose that as well. I also wonder of the Linkswell and GU systems can use a 3rd party launcher. Using Nova Launcher with the Phoenix unit improves it usability dramatically. I guess it all depends on how comfortable with doing the installing and if you familiar enough with Android enough to add the necessary tweaks to the Phoenix system.

I have both Sync 2 and the PX6 set for "audio and calls". I probably need to set just one set bluetooth for just once system, but it hasn't created any problems so far

@@gtibbot Thanks for the response Gary. Follow up question. When you are using OK google to look up the college radio station. Is the unit picking up your voice from the built in Mic? I think in one of your previous videos you mentioned you had the external mic connected. I can't get it to work without the external mic. Trying to pinpoint if that is the issue. I also notice on this new video you do not have the Bluetooth connected to the PX6.

@@tekpc2k2 Even though I have the external mic hooked up, I'm sure its using the mic on the front of the unit instead of the external. I have tested this by covering up the external mic and unit still recognizes voice. When I did my install, I hooked up the external mic just to be safe.

Think of the PX6 climate control panel as an interface to the factory climate control system. when you change fan speed, temp, etc. that change is reflected in the Sync panel and the PX6 and is always the same on both.

I hooked up the small speaker, but either it doesn't work, or the sound is be overpowered by the Sony Center channel speaker in the middle of the dash. All navigation sounds from the PX6 will come out of all speakers

The unit is factory set so that it plays videos even when the truck is in motion. There is a separate subwoofer setting in the EQ, I have played with it, doesn't seem to make a big differnce

Yes, I have the same problem. I thought it might be just me since I haven't heard of anyone else complain about it. Sometimes the bottom of the bezel will pop out and I have to pop it back in.

No it does not. Seems the only thing that triggers the amps to switch is if you choose the "console" option to go back to Sync, or if you have the Media button on your steering wheel, it will also kick you out of the PX6 back to Sync

The unit has a pin mic built in and an external lav mic you can hook as well, both/either can be used

I'd wager they didn't realize you can adjust the brightness in the settings. I've had the unit in my Fusion for about a month now and I have never had brightness issues during the day. My issue was it was too bright at night but if you look at on the top right hand corner of his screen, there is a sun icon. In my unit that has low, medium, and high settings. I was able to adjust each setting individually. After I discovered this my nighttime driving has been perfect. Worst case scenario, hitting the moon turns off the display all together.

If you are in the Sync system, Google will not work. You have to be in the PX6 for Google voice to work.

Mine do work, I have the Sony sound system. I have heard that the models that have the B&O sound system have some problems with steering wheel controls working properly

My guess is your microphone is working, but Google is not set as your default assistant. The unit comes with a pre-installed voice assistant called TXZ Speech and it was set as the default assistant. Uninstall TXZ Speech, make sure you have Google Assistant installed, look for the Google Assistant Widget and drag it to your home screen. On the widget, there is a arrow pointing to some color dots with the text "New way to talk to google". Press on the dots and google will advise you that it's not setup as the difficult assistant and walk you through the process of making it so

Very strange, I haven't heard anyone blowing a fuse once the battery is disconnect.

Tony have you gotten any SimpleCAN update files from Phoenix? I have been fighting several similar issues for almost 6 months, but 6 different SimpleCAN versions, 1 unit replacement and 2 PX6 Firmware versions later... the unit finally cleared up the various errors and is finally working. Note: the replacement unit they sent introduced new problems (check engine light (various CANBUS errors) and an electrical short in the driver airbag) without resolving the original issues of the steering wheel controls bricking the HVAC system and PX6 unit. There were also some CANBUS baud rate settings that I had to change and making sure the unit is set to F150-HI for your Platnium version is worth double checking as well.

@@gtibbot the fuse blew once power was reconnected...just pointing out that I wasn't installing unit with hot connections where arcing couldhave blown the fuse

@@pbf5124 Other than suggesting that I reinstall the the replacement unit again but leaving off the USB harness, they never suggested any SimpleCAN or firmware updates. I had confirmed the F150-HI setting before it trashed my CANBUS. The week+ delay after every support response was just too long for me to leave my truck dash in a shambles. I finally decided enough was enough and they agreed to RMA. They provided a return label and I boxed everything (undamaged) in the original packing, taped it up and delivered to FedEx. No response received 2 weeks after delivery confirmation so I start calling and submitting support request again. After the unit had been in their posession a month, they finally responded and said they were deductiung $150 from my refund because the display was cracked. When I asked for pictures of the damaged unit and the packing materials so I could process a claim with FedEx, no response. I requested again for the pictures and said I expected a FULL refund, and a week later they send a picture of a unit with a cracked display, but nothing to show that was MY unit...as far as I am concerned they grabbed it out of the trash. Bottom line, I'm glad you finally got yours to work but any product that takes that much work to get it functional in a 4 year old vehicle and the TERRIBLE customer support, isn't worth it in time and risk to my truck. I had a Punpkin Android unit in my 2008 F150 King Ranch and I loved it, so I really wanted this to work...but the hassle factor was too high.

You can control the heated steering wheel and massaging seats from the SYNC system. If I turn on the massaging seats with the controls on the side of the seat, that will usually pop of the menu.

@@gtibbot the massaging seats does work. But the heated steering wheel does not light up to give me an option. I can send you a picture if you like. I see the button but can't press it.
