I agree, this is awesome. I'm in the process of getting a boat and one of the things I've been concerned about is spending a boatload of money on an autopilot just so I can single hand and be able to hold a course into the wind while I get the sails up. This looks like it should the trick, though I wonder if it is possible to set it up with a linear actuator attached directly to the steering quadrant under the cockpit sole. Looking forward to learning more about this and trying to set it up once I have the boat.

I'm on a slightly smaller steel boat..13 ton schooner Blue Dragon. Openplotter as chart plotter. Looking forward to running pi pilot on either my hydraulic system or a linear actuator on my sailomat windvane

I love this. I'd like to do this on my own. But what I cant imagine is how do you disengage the wiper motor from the steering wheel for manual steering by hand?
