I really, really enjoyed your climb. You make it fun, and yes, you chose an incredibly awesome day to go. Peak colors, max excitement from encroaching weather, without getting hit by it. Wow, blessed. Thank you. Oh, and the animals, and the flowers, and the way you do it. You have a great take on it.

One of the best filmed and narrated hikes I have seen. I dont think it gives a real sense of the steepness or exposure of some of the areas. The landscape is stunning, and that view of the mountains with the clouds creeping down at 9:45 looks like CGI! You captured the beauty well, even though I know what i am seeing is maybe 50-70% of what the eye sees in person. Well done!

Always a tough call when you have clouds forming so early in the day. Especially with little view of what's builiding in the West from that deep circue. But that view at 9:45 with clouds handing on the mountains was worth it. What a relief to come up in that perfect weather window.

That was amazing! Thanks! Fun fact, all those gigantic piles of red rock-Pyramid Peak and both of the Maroon Bells-are made up of the Permian Maroon Formation (equivalent locally to the Cutler Formation in Utah), which is the broken down remnants of the Ancient Rocky Mountains. The Ancient Rockies might have been as big as the Himalayas are today. The Maroon Formation is roughly 300 million years old, so you were walking on very very old rocks up there on top of Pyramid Peak.

Thanks Brother! Was totally planning for it and even risked that crazy weather, but the whole bike ride up there and started the hike in the dark to make sure I'd have extra time. Glad you're fully out of the covid zone! I just got a booster shot last night myself, scary stuff! I so fear ever getting lung damage. Thinking about doing some desert stuff soon, UT and NV. Let me know if interested or just want beta for your beta. . .Biked and climbed Evans Bierstadt Spalding last week, from Summit lake. That was one long day and the snowy Sawtooth was tough on the Bierstadt side. . .

so many life changing memories climbing in the Rockies .... Capitol Peak , The Maroon Bells ...your video certainly captures the absolutely astonishing color schemes of the season .... never had the pleasure of meeting any Mountain goats ... regrettably I moved back to Texas in 2005 .... not a day goes by when I don't miss living there .....

Unreal. I'm about to scramble a different Pyramid Peak (Desolation Wilderness), and then traverse through the Crystal Range, but I'm glad the name led me here! Those aspen look like lichen on the already-colorful rock.

It was a special adventure, I knew bad weather was on the way that day and would likely knock off the beautiful leaves so I made a special plan, got up way before dawn, road my bike for miles up the road in the dark and timed it just right. I hope your trip is magic too! I was inspired for this from another storm battle adventure I did earlier. Please check out this one, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lZpnnMdlt6qdeo0.html just as magical for sure! Honestly there's a bunch but these 2 are near the top. Cheers brother!

Absolutely stunning! That looks like among the most truly scenic of the 14er summits there in Colorado. I do have one question, related to gear; what kind of pack is that? It almost looks like you're wearing a combo of a running vest and a pack, until I see the waist strap and such that suggests a proper pack. Looks ideal for that kind of huge day hike!

That weather would've freaked me out. I've been caught in storms while hiking that looked way less threatening came in super fast. Inexperienced climbers should not see the cloud in this video and think summiting is a good idea. You had some luck with you that day my friend.
@KarlDeckerPresents
@KarlDeckerPresents 2 жыл бұрын
It definitely freaked me out too, I could get a descent view of the storm systems and their movement from the ridge. I knew anything below the green wall could be down climbed efficiently even with ice. I definitely had some luck and mentioned my concern a few times, bailing off or the danger of climbing in cold wet conditions during the ascent. It was truly amazing luck, being in that dry slot in the storms on the summit was beautiful. I did get POUNDED HARD riding the bike down the road later! Hopeful inexperienced climbers are not choosing class 4 14ers in the first place. . .

@@garyz1982 Thanks brother, ironically 2 days ago I ignored a storm biking, could have easily escaped and was aware of it but, knew I would be on low ground when it hit, I could tell it could have lightening. It hit hard with freezing rain, no big deal, was close to home then crashed the bike at speed on a super slick muddy wood bridge. . . crushed the rear rim, exploded that tire and slapped down hard on the bridge. . . hmmm. . ..I guess being able to handle it and actually handling it are not exactly the same thing, even if highly experienced, lots more risk with crappy weather no matter what. . . your point it is well taken too. . . and recently reinforced, LOL
