100% sure in any normal stories we would've already won if Genshin wasn't too self-inserty designed prioritizing the character's interaction with the Main Character Imagine this narrative: Two Immortals who worked together for 500 years, loves humanity and it’s elements yet hindered with their own conditions with her needing to act not as her own human self(despite being derived basically from an entity similar to Neuvi who really loves humanity) and the other who wants to understand humans more because of his inherent disassociation with Humanity and is now responsible for guiding humans by taking over Furina’s job now they are free to pursue these things they couldn’t or yet to do, both needing teaching/learning to do so though not in similar level, Neuvillette can learn from Furina not just of her (now) honest insight about humans but also experience about humanity and guiding, that’s an easy narrative for them to stick together for the betterment of Fontaine and for the plot to develop a fitting ending that uses the themes it presented (if anyone here is daring enough to suggest Furina doesn’t care about Fontaine anymore, you’re wrong). given all of it’s elements, humanity’s romanticism is it’s most sophisticated quality relative to any other creatures, (romanticism is a wide subject there are many stuff about it’s principles and such online), part of human romanticism is well “romanticism (as in love)” relating to it is also potentially crucial in understanding certain human conflicts, an important part of his job, who else would be the most fitting one to explore this with but the free-est woman in Fontaine that he had half a millennia of dynamic with? Furina isn’t selfish as to shoo away a Neuvillette asking for advices, something she has ample experience/proficiency and would barely affect her freedom, it wouldn’t be a hindrance if presented as something she’s willing to do, it’s also I would assume a very fulfilling purpose, something everyone needs which she’s shown to be missing as well. She could tell him about her adventures as a human and given their long history it’s safe to assume He would be among the(if not THE) people she’s most comfortable with, these interactions can be excused as her teaching him or just sharing more about human world, in story writing this is basically an ammo for various developments iykwim setting the self-insert nature of the narrative currently or without the MC being portrayed as a possible partner for the characters(all 459 of them) I don’t see any other route for this kind of story. (if portrayed in different medium)

I personally don't care what headcanons people have, it's all just headcanons in the end. But it's sad to see some try to act like their father/daughter headcanon is canon and superior. If anything it just infantilizes Furina when they're supposed to be equals. They're spreading so much misinformation too. A lot of people genuinely believe that these two are related.
