there was going to be a second lift hill in 1999, the coaster was planned to go through a shop and under the ground about where the entrance is now for the flying dutchmen ( vliegende hollander ) with some more loops and idea's... sadly they were missing a small 1 million gulden ( gulden is the old pay money here in the netherlands ) so the deal was off. Did you guys also know that there was a company that used this coaster for car sales back in the 90? i love to have a premium card for this amusement park. every single day, when everyone go's to there work or school.. i go for a ride to wake up good :3

this is probably filmed in 2008 I think because in 2009 the efteling broke down the rollercoaster 'pegasus' u saw at 1:31 and in 2010 they built a new coaster called 'Joris en de Draak'

I dont get people's logic. If you heard of Carolina Cyclone before Python, it doesn't mean it was built before it.

And much smoother, too. They turn the old Vekoma head-bangers into more comfortable coasters that are actually fun! I like it.

The transitions, I think, they look much smoother than other same Vekoma loopers. Others are like just get "jerky" specially at the last helix, after double corkscrews. ;-)

I went to the Netherlands when I was very young to visit family. We all went to this theme park.. I managed to get on this ride once despite being to short. The second time I tried to get on, the staff noticed me and wouldn't let me on. The guy operating the roller coaster took me to the control booth and let me control the lift hill chain whilst my family was on the roller coaster... best childhood experience ever!

That bump between the second loop and the banking turn is so damn rough, almost snaps my neck every time I ride it...

Python @ efteling and Tornado @ Walibi Belgium was both made in 1975 and was the first VEKOMA coaster of europe, so that coaster what u were talking about is the CLONE.

@DeMickeys this rollercoaster is from 1981 that is the reason but it stil ride like a coaster from just 3years (its 31years old)

The lifthill is faster now, the track did get a new paintjob and they have replaced the trains with very modern Vekoma trains with souple restrains. The ride on the video seems a little bit slow, but because I rode it in real life I know that this isn't full speed. It can be much faster. Such a great rollercoaster!

It was very smooth with the new trains but also short.

The Python was opened on 13 April 1981 and was once the tallest roller coaster on the European continent it is the oldest rollercoaster in the Netherlands

I like it, one of vekoma's firsts.

@TheSupersonicmadness It was the longest coaster in 1981 in europe, and had 2 loopings and 4 inversions wich was spectacular for that time.

But that's the reason why I pick the last coaches in this rollercoaster because that feeling of ''acceleration' is very funny!!! When you're front seat you also get that acceleration feeling but I think every coaster had the sort of acceleration feeling :)

This is quite a common design for coasters, however this one is in fact located in The Netherlands.

Accidents on Python - 1: It got stuck on the point of no return (lifthill), fire department was present and made the mistake to start unloading the cars in the back, so it started rolling with its braces still unlocked. 2: It got stuck in a looping. That's what got considerable media coverage. I'm sure there were more less dangerous accidents.

O.K. that could be...but this was the first double loop/ double corkscrew coaster and biggest in Europe at the time....but thanx for the info...I like the Inbru Revolution..;)

@2biodude2 google it!...It's one of the best themeparks in Europe...and this was the biggest and first looping coaster in Europe back in 1981...The Python coaster may not be living up to the expactations of today, but it's a legend....

@Kalecommando What you say makes no sense. It is a train, with each car linked to the other. If one car would go faster than the other, the train would be stretched and compressed, creating a 'harmonica' effect on the train. Since this is obviously NOT the case, each car goes a s fast as the other, no matter where you sit in the train.

Except for the loop it reminds me of python at busch gardens tampa (r.I.p.)

Middle cars are the safe choice on just about all rollercoasters.. By the way, acceleration is the same throughout the train as well.. The acceleration differs in directions.. The rear car accelerates downward more, while the front car accelerates upward more (resulting in opposite g-forces). The middle car takes the middle road and has much lower g-forces. What a speed difference.. The new Vekoma (mk1212) trains are really much faster!

all the rides are a bit boring in the Efteling, but the Efteling is not about a roller coaster of 60 meters high but the theme if you look at the fly holander is no great coaster but that's because it is a dark ride \ coaster \ water coaster \ and that is efteling style: D

The two reasons this ride still exist today: 1: Nostalgia, it's the roller coaster that every Dutchman and their grandmothers took a ride in once in their life. 2: It was the only truly serious thrill ride at the Efteling for many years (vogelrok and swiss bob are boring as **** and Pegasus never really cought on until it's demolition in 2009) Until Joris en de Draak in 2010 and Baron 1898 this year that is. Add to that the age of the ride, the inferiority to other rides even within the Netherlands and it's piss poor theming in a park famous for beautifully theming their rides... I don't see a long and prosperous future for Python unfortunately.

The only crash the Python had, was the lifthill (it was stuck) and then one passenger almost died on camera
