Just retired a week ago and I already have access to TSP withdrawals...wow. Did not expect to have access to it so soon. I will do a small withdrawal to get me through this tax year. First time withdrawals will require a spousal consent and notarization if you're married, btw, but after that, withdrawing is allowed once a month. Dollar cost averaging makes sense, instead of lump sum withdrawals.

Blinkens 4% rate was based on a portfolio between 50/50 and 75/25. He later came back and said the closer you can get to 75% the safer the 4% rate would be.

I have a problem with the TSP Board offering the annuity. Why? Isn't the annuity detrimental to my prospects in retirement? Why would anyone work extremely hard for a long period with his/her fingers crossed only to place his or her money in a annuity lock box? To each his/her own. Excellent video.

USPS here also, question: I won’t have 30 yrs when I hit fra of 57, I will only be about 24 yrs of full time service so that means my first opportunity for full retirement is age 60 with 20+ yrs. If I choose to retire at 57 and take the 5% per year reduction, is that calculated from 60 or 62? My initial thought was it should be 60 because I’m eligible without reduced pension at that age but I’ve heard that isn’t how they calculate it.

So does the USPS still contribute a percentage to a Roth TSP also or only to a traditional TSP? And don’t we want that 5% match from them?

Wouldn’t it make more sense to take that money you accumulated in the TSP and roll it over to a brokerage account? That way you can invest in dividend stocks and ETFs. You hold on to your balance plus gain capital appreciation while earning dividends

Keep in mind that most current Postal employees do not have a pension they cut that out a long time ago now there is only the TSP and social security.
