About the name change- you'll always be known as The College Prepster, that will always be a brand you built and I don't think a rebrand would make TCP die off/be forgotten. I personally think a rebrand would be great for you and gives you a chance to bring more content to your platforms. I know that preppy is your style, but your Paris travel outfit was seriously cute and practical. As a reader and watcher, I'd love to see more stuff like that and see you break away from the J. Crew/Lilly/Kate Spade looks. A lot of your readers might be college aged, but I bet a lot more are like me, who read your blog in college and are now working. A rebrand gives you a chance to really broaden your audience and be MORE relatable.

I'm glad that you answered the question about negative feedback. It's good to know that you understand that not all negative feedback is meant to be hurtful. I've followed your blog since the very beginning, when you had the pink and green themed website and were taking mirror selfies. It's amazing to see how your brand has grown but along the way I have wanted to lend some constructive criticism not only from the perspective of someone who followed you from the beginning of your blog but from a more unique perspective bc I'm not in your core follower demographic (I'm a black male). Anyway, kudos to you for all that you're doing to put out great content while trying to be more authentic/accessible don't be afraid to be you.

Whenever I hear those words I think of you and just because you've grown up and changed doesn't mean your blog name doesn't fit you anymore, it still embodies who you were and shows the success of how far you've come. I think you should still keep The College Prepster as part of your brand but rebrand your blog to just be your name. That way if you come out with a line it could be "Carly Heitlinger's The College Prepster" because that name will still be familiar and the blog is already linked with your name. I would love to see you branch out into the post-college audience too, because that life is only three short years away for me and I'm sure even closer for other readers! Love you Carly, and I'm excited to see what you accomplish the rest of the year.

Oh the name debate seems really challenging. I've been a reader since you were in college (since 2011!) and get your hesitation. But also, now that you're in your mid twenties it doesn't correlate as well. That's a tough call. I could see branching from TCP but keeping the original name - like an umbrella? Like move forward with a new blog title that represents where you are and has flexibility to move forward, but keep TCP and make certain elements of your blog "TCP- focused" like themed posts related to back to school outfits, study tips, certain sponsors and some Q&A posts. That way you expand your blog to something more versatile to where you see yourself going next, but keep TCP as an anchor for brand deals and continued content. Does that make sense? I feel like it's a tough call, I would hate to see you get rid of the name but you're moving into new chapters and it's going to get less and less relevant. You will make the right choice for you! Go with your gut!

Ok - please write the book on anxiety I am dying to read that! I can see you changing the blog name to your own name... I think some other bloggers have done that. I feel like you have a loyal enough following (or at least I am a loyal follower who is past college age) that people would recognize you? But that does make sense about using the brand later on... maybe "the College Prepster collection by Carly Heitlinger" would work too... you know for Pottery Barn no big deal!!!! :D

New blog or brand name suggestion, College Prepster and Beyond, or keep college prepster and also do a sister brand sorta like the way J Crew, Kate Spade, Tory Burch etc have done with a factory line; college prepster as the factory brand, and a new name to brand the adult you are now as "The Modern Prepster". I'm just saying that even if you do a TCP line for Target (especially for Target) people like me will still buy literally everything (even if we aren't in college) because I can just imagine the designs now! I think you can do a rebrand of the blog but keep the College Prepster name alive by doing other things. Have you thought about making TCP into more of a HerCampus/The Every Girl type of thing? I could see TCP gaining a whole new life that way. Those of us who have been reading you for years will love anything you do basically so best of luck! You need to do what feels right for YOU most importantly though (and always follow your gut/heart).
