Hip-hop fans are cowards. They are afraid to take risks and rock some Qtip or Pharrell styles. Afraid what other niggas in the hood will say. Afraid to say "yo I fuck with jazz and classic rock n roll" Then you see these whiteboys out here dressing like hip-hop, gothic (I think that's what it is) heavy metal, or in sports jerseys, or dressing like some skaters. I admire that about white boys they can say I like heavy metal, I like 80s rap, I like techno music etc.

The big shot goes "I'm gonna be the CEO, of Def Jam gospel...sign these contracts, and we got the rest..." they literally just said contract...and they were, thicker than a phone book! I said "Not to cut you off, but where is Lyor and Kevin" he said "WHO" IMMEDIATELY, I got up and left! #BestDecisionIEverMade

This is exactly why we started our own private musician's network, where songwriters, artists, producers, lawyers, A&r, and executives have come together to recreate the architecture of success in the music business. It's a worldwide collective that you must apply for and be talented enough to enter, but everyone collaborates, lands placements, records each other's albums, helps with marketing etc.

Wow!! Wow!! Wow!! GREAT CONVERSATION!!! These brothers just broke down today's version of the rap industry in a matter of minutes, and it helps us to understand why the majority of the artists and their tracks sound so similar. It truly is a formula in which the industry executives are not interested in the substance or culture of the music, but only in the money it brings them and mindless mediocrity that is so pervasive on the on the airwaves. The radio industry DJ's mindset is "its gonna get played 20 times a day until you like it".

Math doing the math of institutionalizing the culture. I'd put your media on the same lvl of Drink Champs. Your contributing to bringing the culture forward via media and edifying it with substance. P.S. be on the board with NORE in creating that hip hop union

Just subscribed. Brilliant discussion. I’d love to see brothers from the north, south, west and Midwest devise a plan specific to this conversation to empower each other. That would be the game changer for sure.

I agree with Q-Tip, create a union. I'm a proud union member, and I am grateful and thankful for unions.
