This is the story of Qandeel Baloch - a girl that who had dreams to be a star. They called her Pakistan's "Kim Kardashian". She divided opinion in socially conservative Pakistan, and had expressed fears for her life as a result. She was a social media sensation, a young woman from a poor village who became famous for her sexually provocative online appearances. After her murder, a new law against honour crimes was passed but justice for Qandeel appears elusive.

The parents are trash too. First they married her off to an abusive bastard when they *knew* she didn't want to be married off. Then they forgave the brother for killing her and took his side in court. They did this because they're selfish hippocritical bastards who wanted to make sure they have someone to take care of them in their old age and because they value sons more. To her family, her country, her culture, and her religion- she's just property to be used and to shutup and stay in her place when not in use. That's it, true story. 💯

The brothers were jealous of their sister because she was able to financially provide for their parents and they could not. Pure jealousy by the brothers. She took cared of her parents and her parents loved her for that. She made them look bad in a male-dominated society where the men are seen as superior and she made them very feel inferior with her popularity and success.

Yesterday, I heard on the news that Qandeel's brother has been forgiven by his parents after three years. This is because the system has failed them and they just got tired. It is shocking because her brother accepted killing his sister in the name of honour in front of the camera. Yet, the court didn't give a verdict even after three years. Also, in Pakistan a father can forgive his son in an honour killing case, which is extremely unfair. This means a woman's life means nothing because a guy knows that his father will forgive him. Ashamed to be a Pakistani.

@ Iftikhar A Nizami. First of all QANDEEL BALOCH was not a faminist leader. She was a female who used her body to gain popularity. Leaders inspire people by their words and actions. If we go by your theory and presume for one minute that your daughter/sister will be inspired by a half naked women offering to do a strip tease for Pakistan crisket team, ASK your self how would you feel? Killing a human being is never allowed in Islam and for that action (Who ever did it) they should be hanged to death and justice served. but please look around you in the culture and society you live in and Stop Glorifying these HALF NAKED SO CALLED FAMINIST LEADERS. Alhaldolillah we are muslims and on Allah's commendments we should follow. Forget the society for a second and explain to me that what THAT HALF NAKED WOMAN did on Social media and TV and else where is justified or allowed by any stretch of the imagination. I think she was actually doing RIGHT by her family.... Look at the difference in the house she grew up in and the house she bought her parents.... Could brother have been envious, jealous of his little sister's fame and money? That being said, I don't think behaving in such a manner is necessarily "beautiful." I understand Pakistani men don't necessarily regularly see a woman acting in such a manner, so I can imagine their minds were blown.... But, personally, I think NOT behaving that way is sexier... Especially today, when every other girl dresses "sexy" and shakes her ass on Instagram. No, Qandeel shouldn't have been murdered... No person should be murdered for seizing an opportunity and providing for her family, *no matter* what some people may judge her as. The VAWC took 2,500 cases in seven months...I think that's a pretty telling statement of affairs in Pakistan on its own. Sad it must close...I was touched that it opened in her hometown. This story makes me feel very conflicted... At its bare bones, a young woman killed by her own brother for being too provocative on social media, it's an absolutely horrific story. I may not agree with what Qandeel was doing with her public self, I DO agree with what she was doing for her family. She was good to her parents, that's obvious. Wasim confessed, on TV, so I don't understand why he's not been put on trial and convicted. But I think the reporter has a very good point--once time passes and the wounds are not as raw, people will try to convince her parents not to press on with incarcerating Wasim ("you've lost one child already....") This is just bad, all the way around 😞 "If they are hanged, then no one will have the courage to kill his sister." Just wow.

It's so highly inappropriate that after the suspect is arrested, he is given a platform to have his own press conference. Why? Here's what I don't get...if a family feels a member of their family has "dishonored" or disrespected them, why not simply disown that family member and shun them? That is a perfectly acceptable method of regaining so-called honor and ridding the family of shame, by disowning the offending family member. But, they don't choose a moderate solution. Hi, while I understand you meant it as a joke, it would be wrong to compare the two. She wasn't Kim. She was doing what no Pakistani would dare to do. When you watch her videos, you'll say, it's cringey, uhhh, who would watch this. I'm no one to judge that, that's your choice to like or dislike something. However, throngs of Pakistani men watched her videos, and those very men also wanted her dead. She never claimed she was a feminist or anything else, but she, I believe, in her ideology was a bigger feminist than the feminists of today. She exposed the dichotomy and hypocrisy of Pakistani men. "I know, 99% of people watching my videos hate me, and I'm 100% sure, I don't give a damn". -Qandeel in one of her videos.

there can only be change if women get braver. fight back even if it costs you your life. if a brother can kill a sister in the name of honor why cant a sister kill a brother and call it honor killing as well? a wife who gets beaten and thrown out naked should set fire to that entire house with all those demons living in it. will prison or death be worse than the life they have created for you? oppression ends when the victims learn to fight back harder.

Ribnaa Hanaa Of course there are high rates of sexual assault, violence etc in the US, not so much the UK, but this is a cultural/ religious thing that happens in majority Muslim countries, they have a very low regard for women. It may hurt but it's the truth.
@mattsherv1986
@mattsherv1986 5 жыл бұрын
Ribnaa Hanaa I don't think it's necessarily to do with the wealth of the country, it's more to do with culture and attitudes that derive from it. Americans also have the highest prison population in the world too. There is a cultural thing within Islam where women are deemed as less than men, the man can do what he wants but a woman can't, Pakistan and Saudi have the highest rates of downloading Internet porn, which seems like a double standard and is haram but these men will speak out against a woman making a slightly sexually provocative video like this and call for her death, which is a big contradiction

Her parents were upset at first and wanted the brother to suffer because he killed their daughter which was the one who bought them everything and paid their bills. Now that they are used to living without their daughter's money, they don't want anything to happen to their son. Don't let the parents fool you! They liked their daughter paying for everything, that's why they were upset and wanted the son to pay. Because if they truly loved her and not her money they wouldn't have changed their minds. I saw another documentary about this and the father was proud and even said that his daughter was buying everything and making their life comfortable. Right after she died he seemed more upset about the killing because he lost his cash cow. That's just my opinion of what I've seen in the couple of documentaries I watched about this case!
