Miles away no issue... A plane can't dodge lightning by the way

I didn’t see the previous title, but from other reports landing during lighting active storm is a calculated risk, each bolt fills most of the radio spectrum with noise and a hit can cause breakers to trip in the plane due to induced currents/rf leakage.

It happens with Jetstar flight. The plane landed at Melbourne because it needs to refill jet fuel. Then again it landed at Avalon airport after 30 minutes

Thank you all for your feedback regarding the use of the word "dodges". You can not dodge lightning, but you can avoid a lightning storm by landing before it arrives or by going around the storm. The description has been updated to "Watch the incredible moment a Qantas plane lands during a lightning storm in Melbourne Australia at 9.00pm last night". We are unaware if air traffic control timed the landing to "avoid" (better word than dodge) the storm, however perhaps one of our members knows the precise details of how they timed the landing to "avoid" the lightning / storm activity.
