Great tutorial, you explain it quite clear. I seem to be doing something wrong however, since I can't even reach the end on the easiest level. Guess I'll have to keep practicing :-)

Ok so this is great if you are coming from a direction where you need to make a 90 degree turn, but what about if you are coming from a direction where you need to jump straight ahead?

There is no trick to make it consistenlty. It's just practice : )))))

TBasianeyes Basically there is a small extension of platform, you must use it and jump from it. The circle jump must be done with one solid motion. Stick to the wall but don't hug it. I've heard that there is a difference with jumps when you release/hold jump button after jump. Be sure jump button is not pressed when not needed. Can you do bridge to rail? Maybe wait to get better with overall movement skills.

Soldat I can do B2R and I can do the RA jump with a circle jump from the top but not when I come up the stairs. Somebody should build a practice map for this :).

TBasianeyes Hrmm... it is a pretty tough jump. You just need to make sure your movement is very smooth and that you aren't clunky with your directional buttons as well as your mouse movement. The whole circlejump process should be very swift. If you can get 500 UPS with a normal circle jump, see if you can do the same whilst making your circle jump smaller and smaller :)

Maybe I just have my terms mixed up, but I wouldn't call what you're doing circle jumping exactly because you are strafing almost the entire movement. I've always understood circle jumping to be jumping while moving your mouse smoothly right or left and pressing forward the entire time (no strafe - even in midair). You accelerate at an angle roughly 45 degrees from your cross hair opposite the direction your mouse is turning. I'm not sure what you would call what I describe other than circle jumping. It's pretty useful because it allows you to accelerate in one direction and aim in another.

+PseudoAccurate This is definitely circle jumping, I'm not sure what you're describing. However, I can guarantee that this is a guide on how to CJ.

+ZLiveGaming Maybe the terminology we use in the Quake 2 community is different, or maybe I've just been mistaken all these years. I've called the movement I'm describing "circle jumping" because instead of straightening into a strafe jump you continue the mouse motion and it looks like, well, a circle. You eventually get to the point where you're aiming almost perpendicular to your direction of motion, but at that point you really can't continue straight anymore. It seems like the QL physics allow for it - although I notice when I change the game type to "Race" it no longer works - you're just pulled in the direction your mouse is aiming while in midair. I'm pretty sure you can make that bridge to rail jump on campgrounds just pressing forward and turning your mouse. I haven't verified that yet because I'm not that proficient at it, but I've gotten close enough to believe it's possible. Anyways, I appreciate your videos; please keep posting. Quake is a fantastic game.

I'm only getting 462 ups for my circle jump. Where am I going wrong?

Hard to tell without looking. Always important to maximise your speed on ground acceleration before jumping (getting to 400+ on floor) before you start a small turn in the air

The command is /cg_drawinputcmds 1 However, this only works for seeing your own key presses - you can't see others, e.g. when you spec them.

You say that the map link is in the description, but it's not there. Don't just mindlessly update all descriptions in bulk and then forget critical info even if it's only relevant to 1 video.

+Radian you have to look up the map on steam workshop, there you can subscribe for it and then enter by loading it in the console.. really wasn't that hard to find out though.. i'm into the game for roughly one and a half month now and even i already managed to put together my own huds, configs and stuff, so...

I cant get the map to work, it says int he console "can't find map raztrainql_beta3" even though I place it in the correct place, other custom maps work when I use th map command just not this one.

Hugo Hakvoort Of course. The problem is the map posted in this guide is not compatible with the current version of Quake Live, the old maps were encrypted and the new maps are not so, the new version of QL cannot read the encrypted maps.
