Holy Crap! this video is a life saver! I have a show opening in a week, and I JUST got my projector this evening, and was in a panic about learning how to get it set up with Qlab to do a projection, I was slightly familiar with screens and surfaces from other tutorials, but this video absolutely locked it in for me, Now when I get to the venue tomorrow I am positive that I'll be able to get it up and running properly! and am super excited about the future possibilities of projection in a theatrical environment, Thank you!

Seems so simple! Could you, with one projector that has a video signal with different inside screens be able to move those video screens to different 'boxes'? and simulate 4 differnt projectors (even if the resolution is not that great)? Thanks!

Hi. Not 100% sure what you mean, but this tutorial might address some of the thoughts you're having kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z9qokt2J3tC5mp8.html. In it, I try to break down the video content output from one projector into smaller sections to be mapped individually (and talk about the challenges of doing this in Qlab)

@@LumaBox Sorry, wasn't sure how was the best way to explain it but you solve the challenge in the first 2 min of your video link. That was actually what I was thinking. I think It is a job for Mapmapper. Thanks so much!

Hello, Your Projection Mapping tutorials have been so helpful, thank you so much. My question is, which mapper software do you prefer for playing back multiple videos simultaneously either using two or more projectors or layering video content? Thank you for your time.
@LumaBox

I'm not much of a programmer so I do as much of the sequencing in video editing software and then bring a final video file into the mapping software. So far, I like MadMapper the best for working with multiple projectors.
@hollowstudios2015
@hollowstudios2015 Жыл бұрын
@@LumaBox Thank you for your quick reply. I am the same. Not a programmer at all but I do know my way around video editing. Can Mad Mapper playback 2 or 3 different videos, starting simultaneously? I am hoping I can have one video playing on my main projector and a different video playing in sync on a second projector. Thank you.

such a great tutorial! is it possible to rotate a screen in the video editor to a custom rotation (45 degrees for instance) or only on 90 degree rotations. I have a floor I'm trying to map to with a complex curved shape and I need to angle my projector to make the shot. Could I map that? Thanks!

Hi there silly question. What’s the best way of using two different projectors from two different vantage points on to one surface (as the projectors on there own are not bright enough)? I can probably guess the first response “don’t” but I could do with some tips.
@LumaBox
@LumaBox 2 жыл бұрын
Not a silly question at all. People do this. Each projector is set up as its own surface and then you would adjust the corner pinning so they sit on top of one another.

Is it posible to set video targets not being videos loaded on the laptop, but from somekind of Camera ? If so, is it posible to set several cameras ? Something like CCTV cameras set... Dunno if using some extra hardware ( the DVR they include ) or being wifi cameras. Or using some other sofware like OBS to control these camera then link it to the Qlab.

@LumaBox

My experience is with home cinema consumer projectors, so I'm not in a good position to give any advice on that. You'd need to be looking at using multiple extremely bright (i.e. 15,000+ lumens) projectors to cover the whole space. This type of thing www.epson.co.uk/products/projectors/installation/eb-l1755u

I am using a cheap 720p projector just to practice with, I am a complete beginner so I'm not sure if it's my own fault or the projectors but when I keystoned to the lightswitch on my wall there is still a faint coverage of light on the remaining surface that isn't being displayed on as a screen, is this fixable or is this because it is a cheap projector? Thank you.
@LumaBox
@LumaBox 2 жыл бұрын
This is very common and it might be partially because your projector is cheap, but even good projectors have it to some extent

@@LumaBox is there a way to make it less noticeable at all? As it is quite distracting
@LumaBox
@LumaBox 2 жыл бұрын
Usually I would move the thing I'm projecting on away from the wall so that there's nothing for the unwanted light to fall on to. Also you can light the back surface independently (spotlights etc) which overwhelms light spill from the projector. I appreciate this won't work with your light switch example. Also. make sure that you haven't overdone the brightness settings on your projector because that will also brighten the black level and cause this problem.

You need to use some hardware to split a single display into more than one - usually known as a "display splitter". Look into something like a DualHead2Go or less pricey alternative.
