I go to South America for work regularly. I’m 58 years old and I’m beginning to learn Spanish via a variety of apps and talking to people and this by far has been the most connective thing for me because it explains why patterns are the way they are, which is somethingintuitively English speakers are trying to figure out when they’re speaking. This is just fantastic I cannot thank you enough.

These videos are the only Spanish training that has worked for me. The focus of his videos is rooted in the concepts of HOW the language works. He illustrates them by using words you already know from English. This becomes an instant enabler for not only those words, but words like them in Spanish that you don't know yet. English has these concepts too, but you could get by not knowing them because being immersed in it since a child, you know when things are right by their sound, and there was always someone with you guide you. Even so, you took English all the way through school. You learn new words all the time, but you don't have trouble working them into a sentence because you are leveraging language concepts that you don't know the names of. Thus, teaching the HOWs are far more valuable than teaching the WHATs because HOWs enable you to become conversant with what you know, and a structure for new words as you learn them. What I didn't realize until now that this was the missing piece for me. It was impossible for me to maintain the focus and energy to learn the language I need learn unless I'm able to use it as I learn. (and you wouldn't believe all of the things I've tried and they all ran out of gas)

I am also 63….and a cancer survivor, now living in Panama. I have tried everything! Immersion for two weeks in Playa del Carmen, Mexico (I taught the instructors more English than they taught me Spanish!), private tutors , Rosetta Stone, Pimsleur, iTalki, Butterfly Spanish, Kajabi, DuoLingo, etc. But still , even though I can usually make myself understood, whenever I am around native speakers I have no idea what the heck they are talking about! Too fast, too much slang, or maybe I am just too old or too impaired by all the chemo. Finally last week someone recommended QRoo to me and honestly, this is going to be my last shot before I throw in the towel and move back to the states. I have been here since April 2022, and will be leaving March 2025 (.if I am not conversational by then.)

I've tried podcasts before to learn conversation skills, but I found it frustrating to hear a word, but not really understand what it was. An example of this would be words that start with b or v. As far as I can tell, the letters have the same sound in Spanish. Your method also promotes reading skills as well as conversation. Thank you for investing your time and energy in this free program.

As native (swiss- and) german speaker that's fluent in english, this makes so much sense. You are making it easy for me, getting into the language, starting from scratch. The part about knowing the word prolongation and therefore being able to use it in spanish as well: there are so many english words, that might be too high-brow to be used in a convo, but they're still correct, minimizing the vocabulaire memorizing by a huge margin. I assume. At least it makes it very fun/motivating to continue learning.

Just stumbled across your videos a few days ago and WOW! It is like an instant connection.I have tried other methods and waited for the aha moment for it to start clicking but ut didn't really happen. However, the way you teach just makes it all click and quickly too! I can't tell you how happy this makes me. I just started doing missions to orphans in Guatamala. Although there may be small differences it will essentially be the same. Can't wait to learn more and use it each time I go back. Plus I have 3 daughter-n-loves whose 1st language is Mexican Spanish and I would love to converse with their family that speaks little to no english. You are changing lives one video at a time and I can't thank you enough. God Bless You!!! Keep up the great work!

I am from Russia. I studied German at school, which is more difficult to me as you have to remember 3 genders 4 cases for each noun. But when I was 16 I started to study English by myself and with a help of an old soviet textbook aimed for people learning English as a second abroad language. English as an analytical language is much more logical and thus easier to study, so I just loved it. And now, when I am 46, I started to sudy Spanish just for myself, as I like to see the logics of a language, explore the world behind the language and explore my own language more due to it. I find it much easier to study Spanish after English and via sources in English. Because this way I train both English and Spanish, and in English there are much more nice Spanish lessons, also the two languages have much in common. I found the KZfaq lessons of Qroo Paul's yesterday and they are extremely useful to me!!! As many people here, I also use Duolingo which is good, but sometimes too boring to study one simple lesson for a very long time, and not repeating enough the old lessons, forgetting the words from them.

You hit the nail right on the head with apps! I've been using an app on and off for YEARS! I know hundreds of Spanish words but can't formulate a sentence at all! You've explained more in these first two lessons than I have picked up in all those years. As a person who is purchasing land in Mexico and would love to fit in as much as possible, thank you so much!

I have been learning Russian for a few years (something to keep my brain active during covid) and had no idea where to start as an adult learner who doesn’t memorise things at all. Did a lot of research and found Mark Thomson (Russian Accelerator) and found his methods excellent. My motivation dwindled over this last year or so as I realised I’d not be able to visit Russia or Ukraine to practice the language so I have decided to learn Spanish. Applied the same practice in finding out presenters/teachers/ courses on KZfaq and very quickly came across you Paul. Excellent! Your methods work very well for me (I also don’t like apps for learning). I’m also engaging a F2F teacher locally and have had my first lesson with him so I know that together I will learn well. THANK YOU PAUL and I donated a small amount to you as a means of thanking you.

You’ve done the impossible: make promises and actually keep them!! You said after each video I’d be able to form sentences without much memorization. And OMG - ¡¡Usted tiene muy razón!!🎉 I’ve learned more in two of your videos than I have from the online Spanish class I paid $145 for. Buen trabajo, señor. Estoy muy feliz con sus videos.

I know very little Spanish and can comprehend even less, but this lesson structure and the structure of the learning is phenomenal. I’m hoping to apply for a law enforcement position soon in south Texas and I’m sure knowing even a bit of Spanish and continuing to educate myself in the language will help my chances. Thanks a lot brother 🤙🏼

Just finished all 33 lessons in your Animated series. Wish you would add to that series. 10 minutes is an ideal time. Plus the graphics were great! Glad I did that series first. Lesson 1 in this series was a lot to take, but having done the animated series consolidated many concepts. Very much liked the practice and repetition in Lesson 2. Thank you! 🌻🌈

I have tried multiple apps, books, etc. NONE of them gave me any kind of grasp of the language. Two lessons into these, and I can't believe how easy you are making the learning process! And I can listen while I drive to work, rather than having to set aside time to sit in front of my phone clicking boxes and typing one- or two-word answers. Will be recommending to others!

I hate that you cancelled the series. I understand, but I just found you and have been "learning" Spanish for years. I watched these first two and I cannot believe I have never heard of the "tion" situation. This opens my speaking up so much. I am in the fire service and this has already helped tremendously. Hopefully you will find some way to make this series worth your effort. Thank you!

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I may create a new series using these techniques, but each lesson would be much shorter. The consensus from viewers is that they were way too long. I do have a longer animated course that I created for my English-speaking neighbors in friends living in Mexico: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d9-CdNuH35fdhqs.html

Great video again! Right after it I put together "Yo nesecito ir al estación de tren or Hola, Buenas Tardes, Yo nesecito ayuda por favor. Yo nesecito ir al Barcelona sants, estación de tren".... I'm learning through both duolingo and you. IR and combining a+el is making me able to speak a little better with practice. I'm only about 30 days into learning Spanish.

Having done lesson one and onto lesson two as a complete beginner, THIS is the easiest way to learn Spanish I have come across. Applying "formulas" is like a hack, which works since it removes the really detailed complexities for beginners (that'd normally put you off). Thank you Paul. I look forward to continuing as I also continue my travels through central America!
