Links for parts to do the mod are in the description. If you want a lot of clean class B power for not much money AND your willing to do a simple cheap fan mod tbis may be the power house for you.

Another solution for the fan noise in a studio setting is building an isolation box. Sort of like a sound deadening rack. But any situation where you have a booth involved your amps are behind plexiglass. Not a bad fan idea. I may consider it in the future for my GX3

Super helpful thanks for sharing..have one with ns10s sounds great..looking to do this fan mod as it is super annoying at low volumes in a small space 😂

I have a GX3 I'm fixing to order the parts for. I really like it except for the fan noise. Would you recommend the 1800 or the 1200 rpm fan? The area I've got my system set up is not huge. Also did you use a multi meter to adjust the DC step down converter? Thanks.

We must have ordered from same place. They sent me an 1800 RPM, not the 1200 rpm I ordered. It's also a 4 wire. Does that make a difference?

I had my GX3 modified with a temp sensor so that at low volumes, the fan isn't active. Just as soon as you crank up volume and the electronics 'warm' up , the sensor activates the fan.

Yep. I use my GX5 with 901s and 802s. Sound is great. Loud. Clear.

How’s the full-range sound quality for it being a Class B amplifier? tbh I was thinking about getting this amp for some main speakers until I saw it was a class B, which in general have reputation for notorious amounts of distortion compared to class A, AB etc, despite QSC’s claims that the GX amps have fairly low distortion

I bought a used GX5 and I can tell you that the sound of this amplifier is so rich! I love it!

Hi there @iowaudio Reviews, my. Gx3 is stuck on clip with red lights even though it has no power cables connected to it (speakers). It only have its power cable to turn on of course. The amplifier won’t produce any sound either just stuck at clip with both lit red lights. What could it be? Could really use your help! 🙏

Most likely it’s fried a resistor. It’s a simple fix if know how to solder. Downside to having a breaker is there aren’t super easy fixes like replacing fuses. If you have a power meter check for continuity on the 3 prongs.

@mike40281 Did you find a solution for Clip error? My GX3 does the same after the fan mod.

What are those monitors you are using? Are those home made? Doesn't sound bad from what I can tell, the amp that is.

They are a set of bookshelf speakers I built about 12 years ago using Dayton Audio 6.5 woofers and HiVi TN25 tweeters. I need to do a review on them for fun and they need rebuilt so I can use them more often. Once I have a little more free time in the winter I'll get around to it.

@@iowaudioreviews That's one awesome HK stereo receiver you were able to acquire. There seems to be a lack of high quality new stereo receivers that aren't overly pricey.

@@bpalpha Keep and eye on Ebay for Hk3490. They turn up here and there for not to much.

Can't figure out how to get that switch out on there. It's glued on pretty good. Do I have to unscrew the panel???

What a ugly amp, it looks like it came out of a 80s nightclub 😆
