Bulletproof reliability of these 2-stroke Yamahas. I recently bought an '83 RX50, 37 years old and fires up on first kick every time.

Yup very simple to work on. Just keep an eye on those crank seals. When the seals get old and brittle it causes a lien condition and burns the piston. Crank seals can be the death of a two-stroke quick

I bought a yamaha QT 50 for $20 bucks back in 1993 ish and loved every minute of it.

2 cycle always starts. Maybe change the oil too. I still have one from 1984. Perfect just not used forever. Perhaps a winter project?

I have one that starts up it’s a 1979 one but it just shuts off randomly when I’m riding.

I’m having a terrible time trying to replace the headlight unit Any suggestions on where to find one?

eBay or treatland although the headlight is going to be difficult to find as it’s a sealed beam unit.

@@yannimeeyamee1567 Another thing you can do is make your own headlight out of plexiglass and LEDs keep in mind your QT is a 6 V system

Not 5 wire stators 4wire I to looked been looking for a couple years now those stator are for pw50 not qt50

@@raymondhelms3742 I recommend taking your old stater and sending it to ricks Powersports in New Hampshire. They have a nice website you can find through Google. Give them a call they will give you proper procedure for sipping. They did the stator on my 64 Honda

It’s not a CVT

It has a centrifugal clutch and it is supposed to slip until a certain speed.

I’m wondering would a pw50 motor fit on one of those cause I got a frame and a pw50 motor there Yamaha and still a 50 2 stroke just not a qt

Clutch is working great. Not bad for a 37 years old especially considering it started life as a rental. If you’re insinuating I am fat thanks for pointing out the obvious. I would also point out you are a coward.
