We pull the QT50 moped out of storage for the season. First start with brief overview and history of these bikes.

Who did the dual stinger out the muffler? I like! You know there are big bore kits that will get 45 mph out of these. You need PW50 drive shaft gears, bigger carb. cone air filter, etc. The speedo will point straight down.

Thanks! I did the muffler a few years ago. I've looked into the bore kits but to be honest this thing is so reliable I don't want to mess with it. I guess if I want more speed I'll buy a faster bike.

So im doing pre mix on the one i picked up so what cable did you use as the junction box and short cable removed now the throttle cable is to short?? Ideas on what you did thanks

If I remember correctly I didn’t change anything with the throttle. Simply removed the gear on the end of the pump so it wouldn’t spin. Also plug the outlet side of the pump so no dirt gets in there

@@OptimisticGarage mmmm yes off the gear the short 12 inch cable connects to the top of carb il have to do some research on bikebandit and ebay cables thanks

Everything is hooked back as it was before removing gear off oiler. Therefore no new cables needed. If it worked before removing gear it should work now. Just checked mine. Looks completely stock

Gosh, I really want one of these! There’s one for $400 in my area on Facebook marketplace, but I won’t have the cash until the end of the week. Hope someone doesn’t beat me to it! 😢 the guy selling it rebuilt it

@@OptimisticGarage I got a used db30 doodlebug. I think it’s modern, though a few years old. I might end up trading it for a vintage if I get lucky enough!

It’s a very reliable machine stock. Also very slow compared to today’s standards. 25mph. I don’t know much about the aftermarket bore kits. I would see if they still have original parts with it so you can fall back on them if and when the Chinese aftermarket parts fail

Change the main jet to a 67.5 and it will easily go 30mph. They come with a 70 and run too rich.

I do have a jet kit I might try. When I went with the kn pod filter it leaned it out a bit so left the 70 in it

It's too bad that my Honda express2 doesn't come with a removable jet, they're a press fit on the factory carburetor. I'm trying to find a used factory carb to test my theory, I heard that if the bottom of the jet gets files down you might be able to make 5 threads and get aftermarket for it.
