growing up i had this issue, and over time it went away, but i would not eat anything that was touching something else. sauces and dressings were a no. cant explain why. just grossed me out.

I don't think it's "I dislike X, Y and Z *because* it's a sauce" but more like "I dislike X, Y and Z and all 3 can be vaguely called a sauce" She probably just likes her foods plain and doesn't care for most condiments/dressings/dips/etc. (with exceptions) and just generalizes them all with the term "sauce" Idk for sure but that's how I see it

it seems like a texture aversion to certain qualities in most sauces, dressings, condiments, etc associated with wetness or oiliness. saying she doesn’t like “sauce” is probably what she has found to be the most straightforward way to communicate this texture without getting into semantics or derailing a conversation, is my guess!
