harrow, consisting of a wooden or metal framework bearing metal disks, teeth, or sharp projecting points, called tines, which is dragged over plowed land to pulverize the clods of earth and level the soil. Harrows are also used to uproot weeds, aerate the soil, and cover seeds. In modern large-scale farming, harrows are of varied types. Some are simply dragged behind a tractor In general, the harrow is similar to the cultivator, except that it penetrates the soil to a lesser depth.

I found an old garden tractor disk and put a craftsman spike aerator behind that. Put 25 pounds of weight on the disk and run over my plot twice and I'm ready to seed and have only torn up the ground 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch deep. For most food plots you don't want any deeper. I've got less than 45 dollars in both pieces

The Problem with the plow is that it doesnt work deep enough. The roots of the grass are too strong and keep the earth together. No problem if it would work deeper!

Not everyone can afford a tractor. Also a tractor may not be necessary if you don't have a really big area.

Buy a tractor but then you'd have to buy more expensive accessories for the tractor
