Margaret's back with another video to show you guys how she lives her life. Just as a reminder for anyone that is new here: Margaret is my longtime friend who is a C6,7 quadriplegic.
In this video Margaret gives us a tour of her bathroom and shows us how she's designed it to function more easily as a quadriplegic. She also shows us the important bathroom transfers and other tips for independence.

Really helpful tips and especially loved the way Margaret explained independence, and how it’s the ability to make choices that really matters…not your physical ability. My partner struggled for years with accepting help and now admits that his health has suffered because of it, realising that asking for assistance isn’t a negative thing has massively improved his life.

Such a good distinction! As I've gotten older it's becoming more important to accept help so I try my best to take advice from people like Margaret so that I don't let my pride get in the way!

My in-laws have a trash can that opens automatically, I need one. That telescoping stick is great. Anyone that says that having a caregiver is wrong. I think it is important to have some help, doesn't make you a lesser person.

We just remodeled too. Widened doorways, roll in shower, roll under sinks and cook top, etc ... For the 1st time in my #QuadLife I'm not sideways to the sink, brushing my teeth. ❤ #TheLittleThings

Hello Ladies, Thank you both for these candid videos. They share details about issues a lot of us have but have no one to ask. There certainly wasn't any resourses of this type 38+ years ago when this C5/6/7 desperately needed answers at age 19 and all I had was the standard canbed answers given at the rehab facility(not Craig or Shepherd). What I wouldn't give to have this knowledge then! Great Service!! I also want to ask Margaret about her closet. Are any of her hanging rods the type that will pull out & drop down allowing her access to those items without assistance? I've seen thosebut was curious if they are worth the $$ or just organize better & put items you really need within your reach leaving the other space for things needed occasionally or perhaps that's your husband's section of the closet. Also, shaving..regular blade razor or electric? I'm on thinner so for safety, I use electric but dexterity wise we look to be about the same level of function. I would like to get back to using a blade but likely is not safe for me to do so. Thank you for your kind candid words & messages of hope & reassurance.

Side comment, " wet room " is a great even for a non handicap person. Just say your kids make a lot water mess . Your " wet room " will have a 2nd drain in or close to the middle of the room.

Also in worst case scenario, the glass wall is a way someone can see she needs help, I personally don't really care for the curtains. I'd rather have solid frosted glass wall and doors.
