More LAN events would be amazing. Imagine having a KeenCon and an Endpoint LAN each year after QPL. Maybe even more!

More LANs is great idea. Already ran a couple of QC events in Poland (Polish Quake League, EU League) and people would love to attend in something like this, even as a guests.

I have been thinking and this is what I’ve said in discord, why not seed pros on invitationals higher by default, then everyone else can go through group stages, ie day 1 everyone and anyone play through group stages and on day 2 whoever qualified from day 1 gets to play the pros, I think something like this was done at keencon? Either way be nice for non pros to get a chance at lan and maybe even a chance to compete against some pros and if there’s an entrance fee that would mean a bigger prize pool

@@VALIS538 For us this would be more round housing all the people in an open event. Although our HQ is quite big its also a perfect place for smaller events and keeing that homely vibe We plan on having an open qualifier for 1/2 spots and then fully funding those 1/2 people to come to LAN to compete against the very best that are invited. This open stage would be online though feeding into the LAN As mentioned in the video if we want to do these long term and more frequently, we need to figure out ways of not taking up the whole facility so we can also hire it out to other teams in other games at the sametime. A 1/2 day quake LAN could cost us thousands if not more in lost revenue if it "gets in the way" of other teams booking our space. So just looking at offering up a couple or even 1 big bootcamp room for the pros for this, then make use of upstairs staff area and media studio, while also having 2 or 3 rooms still available to book That makes it more managable for us, fun for the fans as its just awesome matchups in a simple format and hopefully repeatable!

As a new player in the quake franchise i'd love to watch more lan events because i feel the content in quake is lacking in comparison to other games..would love to see a discussion between pros about the state of the game and how they approach their matches as a side piece of content! my only concern with quake is that it's almost impossible for new players to stick around without proper guidance from the more experienced players so an all around discussion from all pros after the event might help a lot to revive the game

Just put a wireless camera on spart1es head when the after-party starts and you will have plenty of entertainment 😂 I'm all in! Sounds like you have the right idea. I think watching couch is a good idea with rotating people and interviews in between games and stuff like that. Make it a bit more casual in between games. The problem with qpl for example is that it's terrible boring in between games. I almost never watch those games live because then I can't fast forward.

Sustainability could be achieved through wagers for regular showings... With prize pools for bi-annual events or similar Duels and 2v2's - Pro's challenge each other and put their money where their mouth is. Public Frag racing - Public servers picked at random 2-4 players race for most kills. Wagers and/or prize pools Deathmatch runs - Individual players get one run for a frag total on a leaderboard. Wager is decided at start, money goes in pot as entry fee. Open to general public, no qualifiers Just brainstorming. Hope I've inspired an idea or three for you

If you want to do this long term there needs to be a distinguishing feature. Not that there is a plethora of Quake tournaments but still :P The Summit style is really great idea and some tweeks to the well known format/pick-ban would be nice or allowing mirror matchups. If you have 8 players, I think there only should be one stream. Otherwise people just miss a good percentage of the action and they cannot connect as well to the "storyline". A concrete idea: King of the hill on either side of the bracket with players having 2 lives. Both players ban a map and a champ then a map gets randomly selected and the players pick a champ. At the end the kings play a Bo5 Grand Finale.

Another idea could be to have both a watching party/couch there, as well as mixing it up with community members watch party's. Like checking in with different watch party's that people from the community arrange via webcam. Ask them what they thought about the games and stuff like that. Could be a fun way to include people from the community. Or have that like a donation benefit as an example.
@EndpointQuake
@EndpointQuake 11 ай бұрын
Good idea! Definitely need incentives for donations, we will come up with a list, maybe signed merch from the pros or as your suggestion get to submit questions even to pros?
@mikul_
@mikul_ 11 ай бұрын
@@EndpointQuake yeah stuff like that is a good incentive for donating. You could probably do some signed mousepads and stuff like that as well. But I like the idea of involving the community somehow into the streams as well. Either watch parties like I suggested or perhaps just video chatting with different people that could do questions for the pros or give there opinion on the last game and stuff like that. I would like to see a mix of professionalism and casual come back. Lately it has just been a lot of trying to make it to professional. As long as the game casting is professional, then everything in between can be a bit more casual, fun and yolo.

Super interesting. I was thinking about which country would be the best for Quake LANs. If I had to pick a country I would pick a country that is on the continent, either France/Germany (cheap flight and train costs for most ppl, both countries have massive train networks) or on the Mediterranean sea so people can do two things at the same time, take a week of vacation on the beach and having an awesome LAN with the boys. Croatia/Greece/Spain/Portugal might be the best place for that. Other noteworthy amazing places for a Quake LAN "on the beach": Romania/Bulgaria (Black sea). The thing is, if you are willing to take a flight even in Turkey/Morocco the flights are dirt cheap.

1. Crowdfunding for Prize Pool is always a good idea. 2. What about places for just regular, not Pro players who just want to have fun at LAN and play some Quake or even just for guests? 3. Please post a link to exact localization, place Instagram etc in the description. 4. I know that is weird but why UK? I know that this is a good, well-known spot for You, the organization etc but just asking if there is any possibility to have a different place.

This is probably an unpopular idea but I would love to see a single elimination bracket, while double elim is nicer for players to give them a second chance I find the finals in double elims to be annoying when one person has a map in hand. Basically, double elim is better for players but worse for spectators while single elim is better for spectators.
@EndpointQuake
@EndpointQuake 11 ай бұрын
The current working plan is to have it single elim, as we will potentially have two events with 1v1 and 2v2 we feel players will atleast get 2 games Completely agree with what you have said, we have used single elim for our CS:GO events we put on, very clean 8 team brackets that the viewers enjoy, find simple to follow, and players feel like they don’t play way too much (especially for the smaller prizepools)

We need more LAN's, that's super obvious. I would like to see LAN for everyone eager to compete, not only PRO's. We could play on LAN in Q3, now we cannot unless we are not PRO's (let's say 24 players in the world can play LAN 1-3 times a year...). It would be great to see some competitions for young player to try make playerbase for the future. I know that the problem is money, so anything you will do will be great. My thumbs up!
