@@stubbsaquatics6080 for sure Chris but we are going to try some feeders first…. we are not quite sure how Larry and Kame will react to them since they’ve never seen fish in their lives….. so we are just going to get a couple little feeder guys and put them in to see if they can get used to them or not…..Ayastigi on the other hand has grown up with Fish and has no interest in eating them whatsoever and sees them as friends….. you probably remember us posting videos of them grooming her when she used to be in the big tank…. she is really getting older though and slowing down and spends more time in the front room with George Costanza….. so we’re not even sure if she will live much longer she’s getting quite old so the pond will primarily be for these two youngsters and we will have to acclimate them slowly to Fish because we have no way to know how they will react….. if they do well though we definitely wanna put shubunkin in there and we would love to get some of yours and we will let you know!!

Yes definitely getting old, sad but still enjoying life.. Bigger shubunkin or just goldfish will do fine.. Small ones may end up as dinner.. lol It will be great to see

@@stubbsaquatics6080 You're very welcome. Not sure if you saw it but there is a place in Port Stanley called Moore Water Gardens who specialize in water plants. I've never been but I did sell them some small koi about 45 years ago for I believe $0.50 each. My how koi prices have changed over the years. 🙂

@@mykoiobsession thanks. This is my 4 th time in Port Stanley. Unfortunately Moore water gardens is closed early on Friday and all weekend then opens Tuesday. I have been to Moore water gardens before though. Love their plants. .They need to work on their fish...

@@stubbsaquatics6080 Maybe in one of the cities. I have to drive an hour just to post a letter or go to a supermarket. I found a koi breeder but that's a very long drive. Too long to transport fish in the heat. I'll keep searching...

They can usually breed at age 2 for males and 3 for females at least up north probably sooner in the south. .It will soon be time to bring these guys inside

Hi there.. Wow I would one day like to visit the Philippines... Canada is vast and beautiful but the pond growing season is short. The fry you are getting is normal. Are you letting them flock spawn or do you do selective breeding? I cull out a lot of black and metallic. Sometimes it's almost 40%... @@stubbsaquatics6080 north west England Chris. Cumbria UK. Pond is about a metre deep id say. About 3 metres wide by 1 metre deep. Alot of pond plants and marsh loving plants. Has a filter, and a waterfall when it chooses to work lol. So water is circulated. Netted due to herons. I dont think our winter temperatures are quite as harsh as some places. She just wants to know of she needs to buy a heater or if they would survive just by breaking a hole in the ice of the pond did freeze over at any point.

So it would be a wildlife pond or so they are called over there when they are inground. Will need to keep oxygen going in the winter. By use of a small pump or bubbler system. No need to heat.. just needs a area open in ice. They will be fine

@@stubbsaquatics6080 ok thanks Chris think I have a spare bubbler and air pump she can have can run an exterior extension to the pond from the outbuilding so the pump stays dry. Put bubbler in the top 15 cm as you don't want to disturb the warmer water at bottom

Thanks so much for watching. Everyone has different methods Especially when different sizes are involved. Glove oil is probably the most humane for both you and your fish. It puts them to sleep. People then put them in freezer or heavy salt solution. Freezer after being in a bucket of clove oil and water. Pull them out place in a bag and freeze them dispose of. There is always the choice of giving them away but usually most people don't want them for the same reasons
