If there is a little play in the swisstool, gently squeezing the rivets a few times with the knipex pliers wrench with the plastic jaw inserts will tighten them back up again. Just takes a few seconds. Much better than fiddling around with pivot screws imo

I have a dozen or so multi tools. Mostly Leatherman and Victorinox. I just got my Victorinox spirit x about two weeks ago. It is by far the best and my favorite multi tool ever. I've had just about every Leatherman Gerber etc. The Spirit series is THE BEST. I just ordered the Victorinox Spirit MX while watching this video. I'm a plumber so I carry my multi tool on my belt in the sheath which is why I got the spirit x and just ordered the spirit MX VS the clip model. I love your enthusiasm for the Victorinox Swisstools. They are my favorite tools by far. Keep making videos brother I very much enjoy them!

I can feel your LOVE with Victorinox swisstool spirit X, and I can see it! :) Excellent Videos Brother! keep it up! I have Swisstool Spirit X and bought the Clip....it fits perfectly and not touching anything when pliers are open, in fact still got 1-2mm space.

Same here. I just picked up a Spirit and clip separately, and was pleasantly surprised to find that there was no gap between the plier jaws.

I have an MX Clip . Personally I’m not a big fan of the Swiss Tool ( as a tradesman I’m a tad bit belt heavy at the best of times , the Spirit is about as much weight penalty as I want ) . I made a pouch for my MXClip (custom wet mold ) it’s carried in the tip down position ( in re: the blade ) . I molded the leather carefully around the clip , so it will not escape custody ! I only use the clip for temporary “ parking “ , while performing a task . Thank you for the tip about the screws , maybe a small amount of blue loctite would make it less nescesary to apply as much torque . If removal of the screw becomes needed , a light touch of a soldering iron , would help guard against excessive torque , if removal becomes needed .

The Phillips sqrew driver on mine is a little loose. But the rest of the the tools are tight. On my Swiss tool.

23:45 that issue is easily fixed by giving the clip more bend so it clears the handles. However... The point you made about picking something up or plucking stuff... I consider it a feature now. Btw, is the knife tab on the Spirit MX clip in the way for you? You know, when sharpening, cutting something, using other tools... I am debating on whether to get the whole tool or just the clip for my Spirit X. Another point about 36:00. It's a better idea to bend the spring slightly, call it a less permanent solution. And if you're filing metal, you'll have more luck filling the scissor part instead. Glad I found your channel, I really like how you explain stuff. Everything I wanted out of a review.

Thank you for your input. I haven't used the Swiss Tool models with one-handed opening blades for any actual work yet to adequately comment on whether those tabs get in the way.

I love the Spirit family , the full sized Swisstool is too much weight penalty , for an Old Guy , who usually carries a lot of belt weight ! I enjoy posts , your points are always well taken !

@@chrisfyfe9212 Thank you very much. No, I am not a lawyer. I work in Learning and Development, part of the HR functions in the corporate world. If you are referring to the bit about public threat perceptions from blades as viewed by police or courts, I did dabble in 'close protection' once because of my interest in such ideas.

Good video! How do you like the XC as opposed to the regular Spirit? I find that carrying the X or the XC in pocket is too bulky for me...I prefer using the very fine leather sheaths that V provides...I have the Swisstool X, & it's tight...Looks like you need to send the loose Swisstools to Victorinox for adjustment or to get replacements...you must remember that Victorinox never intended to have one-handed opening blades...they have them now due to customer demand, especially from the U.S. ...I think it takes away from the esthetic look of the original blade...subbed...p.s.- may I suggest a tiny bit(applied with a needle), of loctite to the screw? This will, I think, help to better keep the screw(& the clip) in place since the screw is limited to being "finger-tight"...

Great review! Do you have any play on the Spirit? I bought a Spirit MX clip and there is a 1mm play on the pliers and I was wondering if this is a common issue.

do you get the movement in the pliers? so much so the wire cutters anent as good as they could be. same on my swiss tool and spirit. I'm devastated

Not at all, no unwanted movement or loose jaws in the pliers. Have it looked at by Victorinox?

Does the knife blade hold a better edge than the regular swiss army knife like the tinker?

No, it's the same in terms of edge retention. Same materials used. But, it's a larger blade.
