I was lucky enough to be invited into Paula’s home back in 2008. My daughter and I (Suzanne and Chynna)were surprised on “Dear Food Network Holidays” Her whole family was just as nice as they seem. My daughter was 8 then she’s 20 now. It’s still both of our most treasured memories and we still make those chocolate gobs! We got to take them home too that day and we gobbled them up! Sometimes you meet a celebrity and they are disappointing or seem different than what they portray on tv. Not Paula! She sat and talked to us after and was EXACTLY as you would expect-genuine and so friendly! We love Paula!!!

The cookies look delicious! Their thinness reminds me of what we used to call Toll House cookies, always thin and crisp. The recipe was on the package of chocolate chips. Speaking of cookies, last week I got a bag of Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies after seeing Paula's video on banana pudding. They were on sale at Harris-Teeter. That night I was going to have a couple with a cup of hot tea. They were so delicious that I ended up eating the whole bag.

@dillinger dillinger I agree, the word is disgusting, but many of the workers loved her. People can say she was crying because companies pulled out from sponsoring her and the FN dumped her. But you can see the hurt and the remorse in her face when they interviewed her. More so like you said was her disgusting brother Bubba who sexually harassed them. That's more what's disgusting. I was more disgusted over him than anyone, he probably threw the N word around more than anyone. This is the past, people dwell in the past and can never move on. There's forgiveness. That's why this nation is the way it is.

You and Michael might like one of my favorite cookies! Thin and Crispy Oatmeal Cookies! Thin and Crispy Oatmeal Cookies 1 3/4 sticks of softened butter 1 cup granulated sugar 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed 1 large egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Beat above until smooth Add 1 cup flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 3/4 teaspoon baking powder 2 1/2 cups quick oats, or old fashioned...any work Blend in dry ingredients. Line baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease. Probably don't need any grease. Drop by teaspoonfulls about 2 inches apart. No need to flatten them. Bake at 375° F for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown. Let cool to develop crispness before storing in bag or container. These are my favorite. So crispy and delicious! Adapted from my aunt's recipe and online recipes.

Paula do you ever use those beautiful copper pots hanging up behind the stove? And are they part of the Paula Deen line? I just love them... they look like art🤗
@ophthodoc4 жыл бұрын
CJ cj I have copper pots and pans. They are made in France. While they are beautiful and conduct heat like a dream (shortening cooking time), they are a maintenance nightmare. I don’t polish mine as regularly as I could and if I did they would look like hers. I suspect she wants them for decoration.
@ljay28234 жыл бұрын
I have the set my parents bought in Paris decades ago. Amazing for cooking but....if you truly use them, you need to have the copper reapplied every so often due to cleaning and usage. I have mine hanging for decoration for that reason. My MIL uses hers (from Paris as well) but limits is to the small sauce pan and one skillet. She sends them to a "spa" every few years. FYI, the good ones are NOT cheap now. Back when my parents bought them (and MIL), they were so cheap because they were the norm. She has thousands of dollars hanging there....trust me.
@ophthodoc4 жыл бұрын
L Jay mine are lined with stainless steel so there’s no need to get them serviced. You are referring to the original linings of some of these pans (tin). The pans need re-tinned over time and certain acidic substances (like tomatoes) can’t be cooked in the tin lined pans because it reacts with the lining. My set (Mauviel) offers several different thicknesses of copper and different handle materials. Aside from the discoloration, which is not a huge deal for me, my pans are really heavy. My mother in law complains about my “fancy pans.”🙄. Mauviel is available online through most retailers. The tin lined ones - most of them that I find are Ruffoni - have really intricate handles and are made in Italy.
@ljay28234 жыл бұрын
@@ophthodoc Thank you for that information!! I've never cooked with mine because I remember all the fussing my mother and grandmother did when it came to cleaning them/their overall care. Yes regarding tomatoes and the acidity; Mama would use a different pan for that and I always wondered why (found out in chemistry class, lol). The weight can be an issue for some (just like cast iron) so size is soemthing to consider if you have hand strength issues. None of my older siblings wanted them so they now have a honored space on the wall in my kitchen. I bet yours are amazing and the meals they produce.....perfection! :)

Paula we need some help with making cookies...and by “we”, I mean me. 🤣🤣 Several years ago I made Paula’s Loaded Oatmeal Cookies from your Food Network days. They were the most delicious cookie I’ve ever eaten, EXCEPT they crumbled the minute you touched them. They would not stay together for anything and yes, they were cool. We had to scoop up handfuls if them to eat and they were delicious. What did I do wrong? Funny story about these cookies: I made them at Xmas time while at my mother’s house. Mother is obsessed with eating too many calories. But mama had been drinking some holiday spirits and she loved those cookies so much she didn’t care. She was taking big handfuls if the crumbs and shoving them in her face. Haha! I’ll never forget that. So you see Paula, YOUR cookies made my mother forget about calories for one day. I’d love to make them again but don’t want the crumbly mess I had. What did I do wrong? Anyone?

I LOVE chocolate chip cookies! my favorite cookie (besides oreos and gingerbread and pumpkin and shortbread)! I prefer mine thicker but not too thick, and replacing the chocolate chips with m&m's would be delicious too, as would adding a combo of chocolate chips and peanut butter chips to make them like Reese's cups! If you're still taking requests, will you please show how to make homemade chicken and dumplings please? They are my absolute favorite my Grandma made a lot, and though she taught me how, I don't remember everything she put in the dumplings. I miss her and her food ever since she passed away July 26th 2012, having lost her battle to colon cancer. I've been wanting her homemade chicken and dumplings for so long, and I think yours would be very similar cause y'all are southern gals, love to talk, prefer homemade over store bought for some things, and you remind me of my GRandma because y'all have similar cooking styles. :)
