I work as a veterinary technician and I have really enjoyed the dive bezels to time out things at work. Include the low maintenance of a quartz with the one tick per second and it really helps to get pulse and respiration rates. Thanks for the good looking options Marc.

It's nice to have a couple quartz watches. It can get old having to constantly wind or reset watches when you have quite a few.

The citizen is a thing of beauty. Bought mine 4 years ago. Still fascinates me everyday The best part of it actually is the depth between the crystal and dial. The way it's shaped, it actually looks deeper and feels unique

I go the Citizen Promaster Eco Drive a few weeks ago. Great Watch. Not an automatic, but still does the job of being sealed.

Love everything about the Citizen. Color, crown and date position and solar. So nice.

The Citizen is one heck of a watch. Keeps ruddy great time and the lume... let's put it this way, it replaced my SKX!

The Citizen's lume isn't as bright initially but in my experience lasts longer than the Seikos. I've had the black version of it for 4 years & gave away my Seiko solar when I got a 2nd Citizen. Both of mine now have the steel bracelet &, for that model, it's a ratchet buckle. My go to watch for anything outdoors so I wear it more than anything else I have.

No need to be shy about quartz divers. I've owned examples of 3 well known high end mechanical dive watches with 300m depth ratings, but anytime I'm going in the sea I slap on a Seiko PADI Solar Quartz. Accurate, reliable, good-looking, and if necessary disposable - one less thing to worry about. Cheers.

I have bought two of your Islander watches and have been completely satisfied, BUT, I still wish you would put out a quartz Islander.

That Citizen may very well be the best value for money watch between $100-$200 currently on the market. There's no reason you couldn't still be wearing it in 2050.

I will never understand the snobbishness towards quartz powered watches. There are some fantastic quartz watches e.g. Ecodrive, Kinetic, Solar etc. and I'd choose them any day over mechanical. Superb accuracy, more tolerance to temperature, thinner, quieter, lighter, less servicing, the list goes on. Dont look down your nose at quartz watches. A beautiful quartz movement in a beautiful case is a thing to behold. Some G Shocks are fabulous. Pulsar (Seiko) also do some stunners !

Quartz. About time!!!! All look cool but will keep time and not give any problems.Citizen difficult to punch in the solar range.In the UK you can grab one new for around £130 to £150 for a diver.Cheers.

I scored the Citizen for $139 on a random weekend on Amazon. Honestly couldn't be happier and highly recommend.

Very nice review. There is no need to appear almost apologetic about quartz. There are so many advantages over mechanical movements that it's not even close. These watches are all great examples.

Good selection marc! I have the citizen and has accidentally gone through washing machine several times it has also fallen 12plus feet off some roofing jobs and still kicking. One time my little daughter put it in the dishwasher thinking it would clean it for me as soon as the steamy cycle ended and I was putting plates away I saw it and had a heart attack. That watch is bullet proof literary!!

I have the Citizen Eco-drive. Put it in the box while rotating other watches, took 7 months to stop. Awesome watch. Quick soften of the strap in boiling water and a mug. One of my faves.

Got the black Citizen from Marc about a year ago. Last month I bought the bracelet for it and IT IS PERFECT (wearing it now 👌)

Great video. I have to echo what people are saying about the Citizen. I have the black one and the blue one and they keep excellent time, the lume lasts all night long, no fuss no muss. I have an Orient Ray 2 blue dive watch, and I’m always having to adjust the time, citizen is just so much easier, and a much nicer bezel. Other than the times I am wearing dress clothes and need a thinner dress watch, the Citizen dive watch 0150 is my favorite.

I think the kanagawa wave dials would instantly sell out, brother. GET ON IT! Maybe explore the rest of the woodprints in that original collection of mount fuji. They're all nice to look at.

Citizen Pro Diver is an awesome watch for the money.

The Citizen on a bracelet (black) was my first dive watch. I bought it because I thought it was ugly in a such a cool way! Every few weeks I get tempted to sell it because I have better ones now, but I fall back in love with it again once I wear it. It feels solid as a tank. I just wish it had a ceramic insert.

I have the Citizen. I picked it up a couple of years ago and it has proven to be a great watch. I live at the beach in Santa Barbara and I wanted something reliable, especially if it got wet.

I believe that Citizen is Royal Navy (and Royal Marines) certified. I know the BN0000 was, it was used for at least most of the 2000s as a recommended instrument for anyone going underwater within the forces.

Wow, that Wave dial is spectacular, and the LUME! Those quartz divers would be great for casual use. What is the appropriate lifespan of the battery in the solar watches?

I have had my Citizen (the exact model & color in the video) for over a year and I love it. Only thing that would make it perfect is putting in on a bracelet.

I have the Phoibos and the Citizen here. Both excellent daily watches. I have a ton of Seiko's too. The Citizen is actually a completely original design which really does something different from everything else out there. I put it on a Helm dark blue rubber strap and that greatly elevates it. Really an interesting watch with a 25 year lifespan on the solar movement (apparently). It deserves a sapphire glass ceramic bezel version IMHO.

Very nice group of watches there! I have that PADI Seiko on a blue Blushark NATO and love it. I have the Miyota 9015 equipped version of that Phoibos, too, I've been planning on buying that same Citizen model. Can't go wrong with any of these pieces!

Mark, random aside, have you thought about adding a SARB-alike to the Islander lineup? Given how much their used prices have climbed, there seems to be a market. Could put it out with an NE15 movement and a better bracelet than the original. Maybe even a slightly larger version as well for us large-wristed folk.

These solar quartz watches are really appealing to me. I got tired of dealing with the quirks and fragility of my Seiko SNK automatic.

I really like the Phoibos quartz diver, picked one up early this year and it is a handy watch to have.

Since I got back into watches about a year ago I wanted to add a quartz solar powered and while I was aware of the Citizen Promaster I sort of avoided it, thinking there was something better I'll eventually find. But I would always come back to it and admire it until one day I finally pulled the trigger on one - and my only regret is that I did not do it sooner.

You know you are going to have to put that custom dial on the next Islander after showing it off. Or else you will have people out side your store with pitchforks and torches. LOL

I wear a quartz diver sometimes, and mine is a black Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster. There are many other ISO-certified divers, but I believe they all cost more. Plus, there aren't any dive watches that do what dive watches do better than my $170 Promaster does what dive watches do. A 120-click bezel is overkill; nobody should use a dive watch to time things accurately down to 1/2 a minute. I swapped in a black-gray-orange NATO strap, which I highly recommend over the comfortable enough but clunky "rubber" strap.

Quartz dive watches are my favorite and what I'm always hunting for! These 4 are very nice. I would love to find a nice homage to a Heuer 980 PVD.

Have the Seiko PADI as well as Citizen; they are both GREAT watches. Love that they are solar too..

Good to remind us there are nice quartz divers out there, as we love to focus on the automatics. But really, your teaser on wrist stole the show...what an after dark show that is. Again, you make it hard to pick an Islander when you keep coming out with such nice designs!! 😂👍

I like the ideea of a solar quartz diver, there is so much sun on a beach, so this kind of watch is just on the right place. Both the Citizen and the (PADI) Seiko have ladies versions which are smaller sizes 😉

Great for grab and go beaters, that blue Sekio PADI looks good, used to have the Citizen Promaster built like a tank but tad too big for my wrist, loving the Tsunami Wave on ya Islander looks cool 👍

Wave dial would be an awesome addition to the Islander collection.

I prefer quartz watches by a big margin. I don't want to adjust the time on my watch every week. And the aesthetics I'm concerned about are on the watch body that's easily visible, and not on the movement inside. There are great quartz options in every other category but good quartz divers have been hard to come by, at least here in India in the sub-$200 range (which is all I'm willing to spend on a watch).

Any chance you can start getting the 34mm midsize version of the Citizen? Great video as always!

I got the Solar PADI and like it so much better once I put on a different strap. I got a Strapcode bracelet with diver’s extension (ratcheting) and enjoy it way more than the Seiko original.
